Abstract: A method for producing an AlN single crystal substrate, the method including: i) preparing a first base substrate consisting of a first AlN single crystal; ii) growing a first AlN single crystal layer over a main face of the first base substrate, to obtain a layered body; iii) cutting the first MN single crystal layer of the layered body, to separate the layered body into a second base substrate and a first part of the first AlN single crystal layer, the second base substrate including the first base substrate and a thin film layered thereon, the thin film being a second part of the first AlN single crystal layer; iv) polishing a surface of the thin film, to obtain a third base substrate consisting of a second AlN single crystal; and v) growing a second AlN single crystal layer over the polished surface of the third base substrate.
Abstract: A membrane-electrode-gasket assembly for alkaline water electrolysis, the assembly including: a separating membrane having first and second membrane faces; a first electrode arranged in contact with the first membrane face; and an insulating gasket holding the membrane and the electrode as one body, the gasket including: first and second faces for contacting with anode- and cathode-side frames respectively; a slit part opening toward an inner side of the gasket and receiving the entire peripheries of the membrane and the electrode; first and second parts facing with each other across the slit part; and a continuous part arranged on an outer periphery side of the slit part, uniting the first and second parts into one body, and sealing an outer periphery end of the slit part, wherein the first and second parts sandwich therebetween to hold the entire peripheries of the membrane and the electrode received in the slit part into one body.
Abstract: To provide (i) a new internal member capable of accelerating reaction between a gas and a solid, (ii) a fluidized-bed reactor in which such an internal member is placed, and (iii) a method for producing trichlorosilane with use of such a fluidized-bed reactor, an internal member in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is an internal member for use in a fluidized-bed reactor, the internal member including at least one resistive element having an upper surface having a conical or pyramid-shaped portion.
Abstract: A boron structure body includes boron having each concentration of Ti, Al, Fe, Cr, Ni, Co, Cu, W, Ta, Mo and Nb being 0.1 ppmw or less and having a thickness of 0.8 to 5 mm. The boron structure body may have a tubular shape, and when used as a doping agent, a ratio of 11B that is an isotope may be 95 mass % or more. The boron structure body can be easily crushed, and a high-purity boron powder having an average particle diameter of 0.5 to 3 mm and having each metal impurity concentration of 0.3 ppmw or less can be obtained.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing polycrystalline silicon fragments includes producing a polycrystalline silicon rod by the Siemens method; crushing the polycrystalline silicon rod to obtain polycrystalline silicon fragments; and cleaning by etching the polycrystalline silicon fragments in a cleaning tank. In the cleaning, small pieces of the polycrystalline silicon having controlled shapes and sizes are present in the cleaning tank and the weight change of the small pieces of the polycrystalline silicon before and after the etching is measured to thereby manage the cleaning.

Abstract: A process for producing a modified fly ash comprising the steps of providing, as a raw material, the raw fly ash discharged from a pulverized coal combustion boiler; classifying the raw fly ash into a crude powder and a fine powder; removing the unburned carbon contained in the crude powder by heating the crude powder at a temperature in a range of 500 to 1000° C.; and mixing together the crude powder from which the unburned carbon has been removed and the fine powder to obtain a modified fly ash.
