    Abstract: A reflective liquid crystal display disclosed herein includes a transistor substrate, a color filter substrate, a first lower electrode, a first upper electrode, a first transparent insulator, a second transparent insulator, a second lower electrode, a second upper electrode and a liquid crystal layer. The first lower electrode, the first transparent insulator and the second lower electrode are formed sequentially on the top surface of the transistor substrate. The first upper electrode, the second transparent insulator and the second upper electrode are fabricated sequentially on the bottom surface of the color filter substrate. The liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the second lower electrode and the second upper electrode. One of the first lower electrode and the second lower electrode is electrically connected to a plurality of transistors and reflects the external light.

In which, a second portion of the light passes upwardly through the openings and a third portion of the light is directed upwardly by the light guide assembly after being reflected by the translucent membrane and the reflector. As the area occupied by the shielding metal layer is the area of the storage capacitor, the aperture ratio is greatly enhanced.

    Abstract: A method of forming a liquid crystal display device with a pixel TFT, a bottom electrode of pixel capacitor CL, and a storage capacitor Cs in a pixel region, and an n-type TFT and a p-type TFT in a driving circuit region is disclosed. Firstly, a transparent conductive oxide layer, a metal layer and an n-type heavy doped silicon layer are sequentially formed on a glass substrate. Thereafter, a patterning step is performed to define some predefined regions for above devices. After an active layer and a gate oxide layer are formed in order on all patterned surfaces, another patterning step is done to form a first, a second, and a third preserved region, respectively, for a LDD region of the n type TFT, source/drain regions for the p type TFT and a LDD region for pixel TFT and Cs. Afterward, gate electrodes are formed for aforementioned TFT and an upper electrode for Cs. Subsequently, a blanket nLDD implant is performed.

    Abstract: A storage capacitor of a planar display is disclosed. The storage capacitor includes a substrate, a lower electrode, an insulator layer, and an upper electrode in space order. The lower electrode is made of a semiconductor material such as polysilicon. The upper electrode is made of metal or polysilicon. For the metallic upper electrode, the upper electrode is patterned to have a comb, fishbone or net shape in order to allow dopants penetrating therethrough to reach the lower electrode, thereby increasing the conductivity of the lower electrode. A process for fabricating such storage capacitor is also disclosed. For the case that both the upper and lower electrodes are made of polysilicon, two doping procedures of different doping intensities are performed to provide dopants for the upper and lower electrodes, respectively.

Because the liquid crystal injection port and the connection port are on the same side, operator can coat manually the seal adhesives over the liquid crystal injection port along the edge surfaces of the glass plates to reduce the instability and avoid the seal adhesives polluting the glass plate surfaces during manual coating operation that causes the problems of later module assembly.
