Abstract: The present invention relates to enhancing RNA expression in a cell such as a cell transfected with RNA by reducing the activity of RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR). Thus, the present invention provides methods for expressing RNA in a cell comprising the step of reducing the activity of RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) in the cell. Reducing the activity of RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR) in the cell increases the stability of RNA and/or increases the expression of RNA in the cell.

  • Publication number: 20120218389
Abstract: A method for acquiring three-dimensional images of objects uses two cameras having acquisition areas that overlap each other. In the course of a calibration method, a group of epipolar lines associated with each other is determined for each of the cameras. A specified random image is projected onto the object to be imaged. For each pixel of the camera, a first environment is determined, an associated first epipolar line is determined, and for the first epipolar line an associated second epipolar line of the second camera is determined. For all pixels of the image of the second camera that are located on the second epipolar line, a second environment congruent to the first environment is determined. The intensity values of the first and the second environments are compared with each other and a measure of agreement is calculated. A spatial position is determined by use of the previously determined transformation.

  • Patent number: 8083051
Abstract: A bulk materials pump feeder having a housing and a rotating drive rotor for transferring material from an inlet to an outlet of the housing. The drive rotor has a hub. Drive disks extend away from the hub toward a housing inner wall. Three structural features of the feeder reduce the tendency of material to jam between the drive rotor and the housing or other stationary parts. First, the distance between the circumferential edges of the drive disks and the housing inner wall increases from the inlet to the outlet in the direction of rotation of the drive rotor. Second, a low-friction brush seal disposed on the periphery of the drive disks seals the area between the periphery of the drive disks and the inner wall. Finally, a materials scraper having a flexible tip is mounted in the housing and extends into the drive rotor between the drive disks.
