Publication number: 20140325914Abstract: A device to limit an opening of a window having a sash selectively movable between a window closed position in which the sash is received in a window frame, and a window open position in which the sash is pivoted outwardly relative to the window frame. The device includes a sash bracket, a limiting arm assembly with an engagement structure, and a securing structure with a selectively operable release mechanism. The securing structure receives the engagement structure of the limiting arm assembly so that the limiting arm inhibits pivoting of the sash toward the window open position beyond a distance of travel defined by a length of the limiting arm, and the engagement structure is releasable from the securing structure by operating the release mechanism so that the sash can be further pivoted toward the window open position beyond the distance of travel.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2014Publication date: November 6, 2014Applicant: TRUTH HARDWARE CORPORATIONInventors: Nghi Christopher Nguyen, Derek Ronald Gramstad, Scot J. Patent number: 8850744Abstract: A securing mechanism for a hinged sidelight panel. The securing mechanism includes a center latch bolt for latching the hinged sidelight panel and remote locking mechanisms for locking the hinged sidelight panel. A single lever handle is used to selectively retract the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt. At a first orientation of the handle, both the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt are engaged. At a second orientation of the handle, the latch bolt remains engaged, but the remote locking mechanisms retracted. At a third orientation, both the remote locking mechanisms and the latch bolt are disengaged. The orientation of the handle informs an observer whether the locks are engaged. In one embodiment, the full rotation is about 90°, enabling the use of longer lever handles without interference from door frames.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: Truth Hardware CorporationInventors: Leonard P. Bauman, Yoshikazu Nakanishi, Manabu Shimoji, Naokazu Suzuki

Publication number: 20140259945Abstract: A window lock assembly accomplishing FER manipulation protection against unintended window opening without using additional components in the typical FER lock assembly by using a passive barrier system to help prevent access to both the lock cam and lock lever handle. The device can include at least one lock assembly mounted on the interior side of the window's inner sash and having a locked and unlocked position. The lock assembly engages with at least one keeper mounted on the outer sash to secure the window. The lock assembly housing has a barrier extending outward from the bottom surface which effectively helps to block access to the cam. The lock assembly housing also has a shroud which extends from the top and side edges which partially or completely covers the keeper and effectively helps to block access to the lever handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Truth Hardware CorporationInventor: Glen M. Patent number: 8813424Abstract: A device to limit an opening of a window having a hinged sash coupled to a window frame including a window opening limiting structure having a first member and a second member. One of them is securable to the sash and the other of the first member and the second member being securable to the frame. A selectively releasable coupler by which the first member and the second member are couplable is shiftable between a coupled status and a released status. The first member and the second member bridge a preselected distance such that the sash is inhibited from opening beyond a predetermined distance. The coupler is releasable so that the sash can be opened beyond the predetermined distance and re-engages automatically when the sash is closed.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2013Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: Truth Hardware CorporationInventors: Nghi Christopher Nguyen, Derek Ronald Gramstad, Scot J. Publication number: 20140196376Abstract: A locking mechanism for use with a window having a hinge coupling a sash to a frame includes a keeper and a locking lug. The keeper includes a generally planar base plate that is abutable to a surface of either the sash or the frame and two wings extending upwardly from the base, each of the wings having an upwardly and inwardly extending portion extending from the base plate and an inwardly extending portion extending inwardly substantially parallel to the base plate from the upwardly and inwardly extending portion. The two inwardly extending portions define a gap therebetween. The planar base further includes at least one self locating leg extending outward and coplanar with the base. The self locating leg adapted to abut a portion of the sash or the frame. Thus, the keeper is positionable without a fixture.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2014Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: TRUTH HARDWARE CORPORATIONInventors: Nghi Christopher Nguyen, Michael Neff, Lee Bauman, Loren Rysavy

Patent number: 8398126Abstract: A multipoint lock for sliding doors. The multipoint lock mounted to a sliding door generally includes an active locking device having an active latch, and two passive locking devices, each having a passive latch. The latches are independently depth adjustable relative to an edge of the sliding door. The active locking device further includes sets of fastener apertures for receiving and securing a handle assembly thereto in at least two different positions. A lever having an actuator pin of the handling assembly can be positioned at various locations on the handle assembly such that fastener apertures of the handle assembly align with a different set of handle apertures of the active locking device depending on the position of the lever, Actuation of the active locking device by movement of the lever shifts the active latch and the passive latches simultaneously between locked and unlocked positions.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2008Date of Patent: March 19, 2013Assignee: Truth Hardware CorporationInventors: Yoshikazu Nakanishi, Manabu Shimoji

Patent number: 8376414Abstract: A multi-point latch assembly having a single adjustment point for shifting the position of two or more latching members. The latch mechanism includes a housing and a carrier assembly received in the housing. The carrier assembly includes a pair of latch hooks. A carrier position adjustment assembly operably couples the housing and the carrier assembly such that the carrier assembly is selectively shiftable in the housing with the carrier position adjustment assembly to alter the distance the latch hooks protrude from the housing when the latch hooks are positioned in the second position. An anti-slam mechanism may also be coupled with the carrier, and may be selectively shiftable with the same adjustment mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2008Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Truth Hardware CorporationInventors: Yoshikazu Nakanishi, Manabu Shimoji
