  • Patent number: 4362328
Abstract: A patio door lock having a linkage for reciprocating movable bolts in the top and bottom of the door into and out of locked positions. A six bar linkage is provided to reciprocate bolt rods connected to the bolts by axially directed forces. A tension spring biases the bolt rods together, and stops are provided to limit an over-center motion of the linkage as assisted by the tension spring, one stop holding the linkage and bolt bars in the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4346372
Abstract: A conventional roto-gear window operator for a casement or awning window, or the like, is provided with an alarm switch. The alarm switch consists of a conductive wire which is connected to a remote alarm package and is insulated from the base of the operator. One end of the wire is fixedly held adjacent to the helix of the operator worm gear so as to provide intermittent wiping contact when the worm gear is rotated. The worm gear is electrically conductive and, through the operator base, is connected to a lead wire which also extends to the alarm package. Accordingly, rotation of the worm gear (to actuate the operator) opens and closes the switch by engagement and disengagement of the wire with the worm gear helix, generating a sequence of pulses which triggers the alarm package.

  • Patent number: 4095829
Abstract: A window lock having a base with a rotatable cam member engageable with a keeper for locking windows, such as a double hung window and a handle member rotatable in generally the same direction as the cam member for moving the cam member between retracted and extended lock positions with motion-transmitting means between the handle member and cam member providing for movement of the handle member through a greater arc of movement than the cam member. Structurally interengaging parts function when the cam member is in extended locked position to prevent any movement of the cam member from the locked position by a force applied thereto other than by rotation of the handle member. The window lock, by means of connecting link means to a second cam member, provides a dual window lock with operation of both cam members from a single handle member.

  • Patent number: 4083264
Abstract: A rotatable knob assembly having a knob easily mounted to the mounting section of an operating member, with the mounting section having two adjacent parts with a first part having a generally elliptical cross section and the other part having a generally circular cross section and with the knob having an open-ended cavity and an upstanding ridge on the inner surface of the cavity surrounding the wall which is of generally the same perimetrical length as the generally equal perimetrical lengths of the two parts of the mounting section. The knob is formed of a material which is capable of being distorted whereby placement of the knob on the mounting section by relative insertion of the mounting section into the cavity causes distortion of the locking ring to pass over the generally elliptical cross section part and the locking ring then returns to its normal shape to engage against the generally circular part of the mounting section and to lock behind the elliptical section.
