  • Publication number: 20180080902
Abstract: The invention discloses a chemical sensor device including a sensitive material formed as a thin film on the active side of a transducer substrate. The sensor uses vanadium oxide (V2O5) as a sensing material to detect amine and amine derivatives directly in liquid media. The developed sensor has been tested against selected amines as target analytes (such as triethylamine, butylamine, hexylamine and chloramine-T), organic chlorinated, non-chlorinated compounds, phenols, and a variety of pesticides which can be found in water and act as interferences. The sensor has exhibited sensitivity values of 12 Hz/ppm against chloramine-T and in the range of 1-2 Hz/ppm for the amines. The detection limit is 80 ppb for chloramine-T and below 1 ppm for the amines. The developed sensor does not respond to potentially interfering compounds.

  • Patent number: 9857176
Abstract: The drift (°/h) for an interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (IFOG) means the variations on the voltage generated versus the zero angular (rotation) rate, while IFOG is not under influence of any angular rate effect. If the drift of an IFOG is predefined, the compensation of the drift can trivially be carried out by a subtraction process. However, with this invention, the necessity of the predefinition of the zero rotation rate voltage of the IFOG which belongs to the primary coil called “Gyro Coil” herein, is removed because the instantaneous variations on the zero rotation rate voltage of the IFOG can be monitored either periodically or whenever required with help of a secondary coil, called as “Monitor Coil”, which is able to be switched by a microcontroller controlled-MEMS fiber optic ON/OFF switches.

  • Publication number: 20160334285
Abstract: The averaged pulse energy (J) of a Pulsed Type Laser Source can be measured by several types of commercial laser energy meters, such as pyroelectric detector or thermopile sensor, the spectral responsivity and the time/frequency related response properties of which are compatible with those of the Pulsed Type Laser Source. These Commercial Laser Energy Meters, regardless of sensor/detector type, should be calibrated against the working standards calibrated in a national (or an international) traceability chain relying on primary standards on the highest level having the lowest uncertainty in realizations of the fundamental SI units. FCIS based-LEMCS designed in this invention accomplishes both of the above proficiencies of measuring the averaged pulse energy of the Pulsed Type Laser Source and calibrating the Commercial Laser Energy Meters, which are traceably to primary level standards.

  • Patent number: 9371573
Abstract: The present invention describes an effective grain refining practice for aluminum foundry alloys. The method described herein relies on the control of the Titanium level of the alloy to be grain refined and the addition of boron once it is melted. Boron addition can be made via Al—B master alloys as well as with boron compounds such as KBF4 salt. The boron added into the melt dissolves first and then forms the AlB2 particles that act as potent substrates for the nucleation of aluminum once solidification process starts. The Ti concentration of the alloy must be controlled below 100 ppm for this method to offer effective grain refinement. The boron becomes ineffective when the Ti concentration in the alloy is higher.
