  • Publication number: 20040131253
Abstract: A method for recognizing abnormal image is disclosed. The invention utilizes level comparisons of adjacent image lines to determine if there is any abnormal image amid an image picture and whether the abnormal image belongs to shading or LBB. The method comprises the following steps. First of all, two adjacent image lines having level values Pi and Pi−1 are selected. Then an absolute value of the Pi and the Pi−1 is calculated. Next the absolute value is compared with a value X. When the absolute value is smaller than X, then the image lines are determined as normal. On the contrary, when the absolute value is larger than X, then at least one of the image lines is determined as abnormal. Moreover, another two image lines having level values Pi+1 and Pi−2 separately adjacent the image lines having level values Pi and the Pi−1 are selected.

Abstract: The present invention provides a determination method to obtain the optimum image output quality. The method comprising the standard white plate is scanned prior to the scanning document sheet to obtain a first image data. Then, the first image data is calculated to generate the shading curve, noise level, and brightness data, which corresponding to each sensor device. Next, the shading curve or standard values returned to input into the calibration database. Thereafter, the scanning device scanned and exposed the document sheet to obtain a second imaging data that corresponding to each sensor device and to read out the standard curve (shading curve) from the calibration memory simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 6703597
Abstract: A method of resolving photoelectron coupling that results from the operation of a staggered charge-coupled device inside a scanner. The staggered charge-coupled device at least includes an optical sensor group comprising of an optical sensor array and a neighboring optical sensor array for scanning pixels. The method includes the step of: recording the quantity of photoelectrons transferred between a first quantity of photoelectrons captured by the optical sensor array and a second quantity of photoelectrons captured by the neighboring optical sensor array during a scanning time interval t. Thereafter, the quantity of transferred photoelectrons is subtracted from the first quantity of photoelectrons captured by the optical sensor array to obtain the correct quantity of photoelectrons captured by the optical sensor array during the scanning time interval t. Using the corrected value, accurate brightness value of the pixels scanned by the optical sensor array is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20040042050
Abstract: A method for generating a calibration curve is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps. Calibration data of one image line of previous scan are firstly provided. Reference pixels are selected from the image line. Then a calibration board is scanned and calibration data of the reference pixels are generated. Calibration data of the reference pixels of previous scan are then selected from the calibration data of one image line of previous scan. Ratios of the calibration data of the reference pixels and the calibration data of the reference pixels of previous scan are calculated. Calibration data of all pixels of the image line are finally generated by multiplying the calibration data of the image line of previous scan and the ratios.

  • Publication number: 20040022443
Abstract: An image processing method for facilitating data transmission is provided. An image compression method is performed to convert X-bits binary digital signals to a binary compressed data in a floating-point form of (1.n)* 2m. Bit m represents the first bit with logic level “1” of the X-bits binary digital signals, and n represents the bits taken from the X-bits binary digital signals after the bit m. The binary compressed data in the floating-point form of (1.n)*2m is outputted with a sequence of binary number representing a set of (m, n). The latter n bits of the sequence of binary numbers are consisted of the n bits of the X-bits digital signal. Therefore, by the present image compression method, the transmission amount of image data is reduced. The transmission time of image data and the volume of a memory for storing the image data are also reduced.

Abstract: A method of providing the inputting units of the scanner with a foolproof function. Initially, while a specific inputting unit is activated, such as a push button being pushed, the connection between the operation of the scanner and other inputting units is terminated. This terminated connection is not regained until the specific action, which corresponds to the specific inputting unit, finishes. Moreover, an “activation” message can be directly displayed on the scanner while this specific inputting unit is activated, and while the scanner is processing some specific action, this action can be terminated with the function of the scanner and the connection between all inputting units regained as soon as this specific inputting unit is activated again. For any scanner with the foolproof function, while a specific inputting unit is activated, not only a corresponding specific action is performed but also the connection between the performing specific action and all inputting units is controlled.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a scanning method by using a virtual frame holder. The method includes using a computer drive scan program to perform a scanning preview, thereby showing an object image pattern on screen. Next, frame holder specification parameters are used. It is judged whether the frame holder specification parameter data source are used. If the judgement is yes, the frame holder specification is selected from the frame holder specification parameters data source. If the judgement is no, a frame holder specification parameter is created from the frame holder specifications. By using the computer a scan area is dragged and the scan position is calibrated automatically by using the drive scan program. Finally, using a drive scan program the object image is scanned.
