  • Patent number: 9738536
Abstract: An allotrope-specific reagent includes a hydride molecule in complex with a specified elemental allotrope. The elemental allotrope included in the complex substantially retains a specified allotropic structure of the bulk element. For example, the reagent can contain a specified allotrope of carbon, such as amorphous carbon, diamond, or graphite. The allotrope-specific reagent can be useful for the synthesis of allotropic nanoparticles. A method for synthesizing the allotrope-specific reagent includes a step of ball-milling a mixture that includes a bulk hydride molecule, such as lithium borohydride powder, and a powder of a specified elemental allotrope.

  • Patent number: 9739851
Abstract: A nano-oscillator magnetic wave propagation system has a group of aggregated spin-torque nano-oscillators (ASTNOs), which share a magnetic propagation material. Each of the group of ASTNOs is disposed about an emanating point in the magnetic propagation material. During a non-wave propagation state of the nano-oscillator magnetic wave propagation system, the magnetic propagation material receives a polarizing magnetic field. During a wave propagation state of the nano-oscillator magnetic wave propagation system, each of the group of ASTNOs initiates spin waves through the magnetic propagation material, such that a portion of the spin waves initiated from each of the group of ASTNOs combine to produce an aggregation of spin waves emanating from the emanating point. The aggregation of spin waves may provide a sharper wave front than wave fronts of the individual spin waves initiated from each of the group of ASTNOs.

  • Patent number: 9705764
Abstract: In a method, formal descriptions of network address and identification schemes are received. Then validity and completeness of the formal descriptions are verified. The network address and identification schemes are scheduled into a final description after the validity and completeness of the formal descriptions are verified. The final description is resolved into an applicable network address. Then the applicable network address and identification scheme is applied to a test network and the test network runs. The running performance of the test network is measured. The measurements are analyzed and sent to evaluating performance and evolution ability of the network address and identification schemes.

  • Patent number: 9557220
Abstract: Provided is a Fourier transform spectroscopy method that removes restrictions on spectral resolution and spectral accuracy in Fourier transform spectroscopy for observing a cyclic repeating phenomenon, that realizes, theoretically, infinitesimal spectral resolution accuracy. After accurately and sufficiently stabilizing the repetition period of a phenomenon, a temporal waveform is acquired by making a repetition period and a time width for observing the temporal waveform of a phenomenon strictly conform, and by performing a Fourier transform, acquired is a discrete separation spectrum in which the inverse number of the observation time window size T is made a frequency data gap. Measurement is repeated while causing the repetition period to change, and the gap of the discrete separation spectrum is supplemented.

  • Patent number: 9448230
Abstract: The Inventors disclosed an inexpensive method of determining fetal hemoglobin (HbF) in red blood cells of individuals with sickle cell anemia undergoing hydroxyurea treatment. The method is based on the specific elution and measurement of sickle hemoglobin (HbS) from red blood cells, wherein the amount of HbF may be determined according to the formula: HbF=Total hemoglobin?HbS. The method may also be used to determine the amount of HbF in individuals without sickle cell anemia by the specific elution of adult or normal hemoglobin (HbA) from red blood cells whereby the amount HbF may be determined according to the formula: HbF=Total hemoglobin?HbA. The method will also determine levels of HbS or HbA in individuals with sickle cell and without sickle cell respectively. The methods have the advantage of being easy to practice in underdeveloped countries.

  • Patent number: 9433588
Abstract: Pharmaceutically engineered aerosols (e.g. submicrometer and nano-particles and droplets) containing a hygroscopic growth excipient or agent are employed to improve the delivery of respiratory aerosols to the lung. Inclusion of the hygroscopic agent results in near zero depositional loss in the nose-mouth-throat regions and near 100% deposition of the aerosol in the lung. Targeting of the aerosol to specific lung depths is also possible. In addition, methods and apparatuses for delivering aerosols to the lung are provided. The aerosol is delivered to one nostril of a patient while a relatively high humidity gaseous carrier is delivered to the other nostril, resulting in post-nasopharyngeal growth of the aerosol to a size that promotes deposition in the lung.
