  • Patent number: 6535276
Abstract: A method measures the three dimensional position of particles in a fluid medium contained in a sample by recording a digital hologram of the particles on an image sensor and by reconstructing the image of the particles from the hologram. The recording includes providing a source beam with a coherent source, and generating at least two beams from the source beam, namely a reference beam and at least one object beam, wherein the reference beam and the object beam are mutually coherent. The sample is illuminated by condensing the object beam onto the sample in order to obtain a scattered object beam for each particle. The scattered object beam is scattered into a spherical converging object beam toward the image sensor for each particle.

  • Patent number: 6172207
Abstract: A process and a device for synthesizing labeled compounds. The process involves preparing a labeling agent, labeling a precursor with the labeling agent, where the precursor is a protected substrate, and deprotecting the labeled precursor to convert the labeled precursor to a labeled compound by passing the labeled precursor through a solid support in a column or a cartridge. The process may be used to convert labeled tetraacetylfluoroglucose (TAFg) to labeled fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) for use in nuclear medical imaging. The process is more rapid than conventional methods and is performed at room temperature rather than high temperature for conventional technology.

  • Patent number: 4157285
Abstract: Manganese is recovered from its oxides by reacting a manganese oxide with fused calcium chloride or fused magnesium chloride to provide a liquid phase containing manganese chloride and fused chloride, and a solid phase containing reaction residue, the temperature of the reaction being above the melting point of the calcium or magnesium chloride but below the boiling point of manganese chloride in the reaction mixture.
