Abstract: Method for producing a substrate with Au (gold) nanoclusters affixed to the surface thereof and substrate and catalyst obtained by means of said method. The method consists in preparing a solution containing, in disperse form, Au nanoclusters and, also in disperse form, a substrate with a surface functionalised with a polyelectrolyte that confers a net electric charge thereon, and in intensely agitating said solution to affix Au nanoclusters to the substrate surface. This results in a substrate that has a surface with Au nanoclusters affixed in disperse form, significantly without clusters. The invention also relates to a catalyst that comprises said substrate with Au nanoclusters affixed to the surface thereof. Said catalyst is particularly suitable for use in oxidation reactions.

Abstract: A slit m is projected onto an object surface in which reference point X1 is in a horizontal axis x closest to best in focus position P. One image of a field of view area F is acquired after reflection of light comprising said reference point X1. Position Z1 of the object in a vertical axis z is determined. Images of respective field of view areas F are acquired after reflection of light having reference points X2, X3 . . . Xn by simultaneously moving the object along axis z to maintain reference points X2, X3 . . . Xn closest to best in focus position P. Positions Z2, Z3 . . . Zn in which images were acquired are determined. The best in focus position P along horizontal axis x is determined for each image. A correction differential ?1, ?2 . . . ?n between best in focus position P and reference points X1, X2 . . . Xn is calculated.

  • Patent number: 8488851
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for measuring light diffusion in the eyeball or eye region, by recording and processing retinal images. The inventive system includes a double-pass ophthalmoscopic system having means for correcting low-order aberrations. Said system can be used to record images of the plane of the retina on a CCD camera, the outer part of said images containing information relating to ocular scattering. The aforementioned images can be used to obtain the objective scattering index (OSI), providing the ratio between the energy on the outer part of the image and the energy in the central part, or, alternatively, the modulation transfer function (MTF) area can be used for this purpose once the low frequencies have been filtered. According to the inventive method, the low-order aberrations are corrected before a retinal image or a temporal sequence of retinal images is captured and recorded.

A double-pass ophthalmoscopic system is used which incorporates a periscope allowing the patient to binocularly see real objects in an open field and images of the retinal plane to be recorded on a CCD camera. The method includes obtaining, for different values of accommodation stimulation, a set of retinal images corresponding to different focal values in the retina, obtaining the different focal positions in the retina by moving the two lenses incorporated in the ophthalmoscopic system. The image with the best optical quality is obtained for each set of images and by associating the selected image with the known value of the accommodation stimulation it is possible to objectively measure the accommodation.

  • Patent number: 8312052
Abstract: The present invention establishes a process for creating a set of structures that allows efficient storage and subsequent handling. The multigraph is represented using bitmaps with element counters and mappings between values and organized bitmaps to faciliate the handling of the multigraphs. The bits in the bitmaps represent two aspects of the multigraph: 1) indexing of all the objects of the multigraph as a function of their identifiers and 2) connectivity between objects of the multigraph, whether they are vertices or edges. Mappings allow, given a value, accessing the objects of the multigraph which contain such value. Multigraph operations are solved by accessing the mappings and applying logical operations on the bitmaps. This way of representing a graph allows efficiently performing graph operations such as: inserting a vertex or an edge, inserting an attribute, acquiring the incoming and outgoing edges of an attribute, etc.

  • Patent number: 8306436
Abstract: A receiver including a fiber optic first input element, through which a signal carrying information circulates, a local laser block, a photo-detection block, and a block of differential demodulation is disclosed. The information-carrying signal of the optical fiber input and the beam of light generated by the local laser block provided in the receiver are coupled and detected in a block of optical detection, which converts the optical signal that carries information into an electrical signal that carries information, which is processed in a block of electrical demodulation, which performs a differential demodulation of its in-phase and quadrature components, combining them later. An optical receiver is obtained, featuring optical homodyne detection, being coincident the wavelengths of the input signal and the tuned beam of light, with a high tolerance to the phase noise, generated by the optical communications lasers, and with no need to use an optical phase-locked loop.
