  • Patent number: 9192778
Abstract: The invention provides a cochlea stimulator for implantation comprising optical fibers of which are coupled to an irradiation source that is controlled by a modulator to generate irradiation specific for a pre-determined range of sound-frequencies. The cochlea stimulator effects a frequency-specific activation of the organ of Corti needed for speech perception especially in noisy environment and more complex sounds. For imparting excitation signals which are generated by modulated pulsed laser irradiation conducted within an optical fiber in order to elicit nervous signals in residual functional organ of Corti sections, the auditory prosthesis preferably contains optical fibers which are dimensioned to terminate in end sections within the cochlea at different sites or sections of the organ of Corti. e.g. having different lengths for locating their end sections at different internal parts of the cochlea.

  • Publication number: 20150332878
Abstract: The invention relates to a power circuit breaker that is suitable for switching electrical voltages. The power circuit breaker according to the invention comprises two main electrodes, to each of which a respective pole of the voltage to be switched can be connected. During the switching process, at least one of said main electrodes follows a switching path. The power circuit breaker is characterized in that secondary electrodes are additionally provided, which protrude into the vicinity of the switching path and are designed and arranged in such a way that arcs can be produced (a) between the main electrodes and the secondary electrodes and (b) between the individual secondary electrodes during the switching process. The power circuit breaker according to the invention can be advantageously used in vehicles and in ultra-high-voltage AC and HVDC (high-voltage direct current) transmission systems and causes arcs to be extinguished as early as possible during the switching process.

  • Patent number: 9191199
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating a private-public key pair, for encrypting a message for transmission through an unsecure communication medium (30), and for decrypting the message are disclosed. The methods are based on the well-known McEliece cryptosystem or on its Niederreiter variant. More general transformation matrices Q are used in place of permutation matrices, possibly together with an appropriate selection of the intentional error vectors. The transformation matrices Q are non-singular n×n matrices having the form Q=R+T, where the matrix R is a rank-z matrix and the matrix T is some other matrix rendering Q non-singular. The new Q matrices, though at least potentially being dense, have a limited propagation effect on the intentional error vectors for the authorized receiver. The use of this kind of matrices allows to better disguise the private key into the public one, without yielding any further error propagation effect.
