  • Patent number: 9228928
Abstract: This invention relates to a new portable device with no solid frame, which makes it possible to carry out instrumented indentation of a material to deduct its mechanical properties. Continuous or instrumented indentation consists in measuring the force and displacement when an indenter is pushed into the tested material. The device is made up of a sleeve with a reduced volume and its lower base, which may be of variable shapes adapted to that of the material to test, a piston sliding in the sleeve, the displacement of which is controlled by the hand of a user, a manipulating arm, a mechanical column or a robot, an elastic ring or a spring limiting the displacement of the piston, three displacement sensors arranged in an equilateral triangle around a single-piece indenter having any shape, and a force sensor that makes it possible to measure the change in the force depending on the depression made by the indenter in the tested material.

  • Patent number: 9188582
Abstract: Testicular germline markers and their use for predicting the presence or not of reproductive cells in testis of an infertile or hypo fertile male subject are provided. More particularly, identification of specific protein biomarkers of post-meiotic germ cells in the human seminal plasma was carried out by an integrative genomics approach. It was demonstrated that the presence of such biomarkers could be monitored in the seminal plasma of azoospermic subjects in order to select for a testis biopsy and testicular sperm extraction (TESE) only subjects for which there are high probabilities to find reproductive cells. The results indicate the analysis of seminal plasma is a non-invasive approach for predicting the presence of reproductive cells.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for diagnosing cornification disorders and metabolic diseases. More specifically, the present invention relates to an in vitro method for diagnosing and/or predicting a cornification disorder in a subject, comprising determining the presence or the absence of a genetic variation in the Patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 1 (PNPLA1) gene sequence in a biological sample from said subject, as compared with the PNPLA1 gene sequence of a healthy non-carrier subject, wherein the presence of said genetic variation indicates that said subject suffers from or is at risk of suffering from said cornification disorder. The method according to the invention allows for example diagnosing ichthyosis in dogs of the Golden Retriever breed.
