Abstract: The present invention provides cyclic antimicrobial pseudopeptides that are useful in a variety of applications. Also provided are pharmaceutical compositions, products and kits comprising such cyclic antimicrobial peptides and methods of using these antimicrobial peptides for modifying infectivity, killing microorganisms or inhibiting microbial growth or function and for preventing and/or treating an infection or contamination caused by such microorganisms.

Abstract: The invention relates to an active implantable medical device. The device includes a VNS pulse generator, an activity sensor for detecting a patient's current activity level, and a processor. The processor is configured to collect the electrical activity of the heart, such as a current intrinsic heart rate of the patient. The processor further calculates values of a reference heart rate based on the patient's current activity level. A first histogram is constructed from the reference heart rate values, and a second histogram is constructed from the intrinsic heart rate values. An index representative of the patient's condition is derived by comparing the first and second histograms.

Abstract: An active implantable medical device for neurostimulation therapy is disclosed. The device produces stimulation pulse sequences generated continuously in succession during activity periods separated by intermediate inactivity periods during which no stimulation is issued. An input signal, provided by a physiological sensor, representative of cardiac activity and/or of the patient's hemodynamic status is received by circuitry. The circuitry further provides for dynamic control of the neurostimulation therapy, wherein the length of activity periods is modulated based on the current value level of the control parameter compared to a threshold. The duration of the next period of inactivity is calculated by the circuitry at the end of each activity period to maintain a constant duty cycle ratio between periods of activity and periods of inactivity.

Abstract: A system for assessing a sympathovagal balance of a patient includes a generator configured to produce stimulation pulses, a stimulator that receives the stimulation pulses produced by the generator and outputs a stimulation energy, a sensor configured to measure a physiological signal, and a processor. The processor is configured to control the generator during a plurality of sequences to produce the stimulation pulses over a test period, determine a biological parameter of a current activity of the patient derived from the physiological signal, determine a variation of the biological parameter resulting from the stimulation pulses, and determine a sympathovagal balance index according to the variation in the biological parameter.
Abstract: A method of programming a FPGA, wherein the FPGA comprises an array of macrocells, each comprising at least a configurable hardware block and a configurable interconnection network, the method comprises the steps of: providing a high-level configuration file containing: first data defining a set of macrocells and their relative positions; second data defining a configuration of the hardware blocks of the macrocells; and third data defining interconnections between the macrocells; wherein said high-level configuration file contains neither data defining an absolute position of the macrocells within the FPGA, nor local routing information fully defining a configuration of their interconnection networks; converting said high-level configuration file into a bitstream file; and uploading the bitstream file into the FPGA. A semiconductor chip comprising a FPGA and a device configured for programming the FPGA are provided.
