  • Patent number: 11580203
Abstract: A system for authenticating a user attempting to access a computing device or a software application executing thereon. A data storage device stores one or more digital images or frames of video of face(s) of authorized user(s) of the device. The system subsequently receives from a first video camera one or more digital images or frames of video of a face of the user attempting to access the device and compares the image of the face of the user attempting to access the device with the stored image of the face of the authorized user of the device. To ensure the received video of the face of the user attempting to access the device is a real-time video of that user, and not a forgery, the system further receives a first photoplethysmogram (PPG) obtained from a first body part (e.g., a face) of the user attempting to access the device, receives a second PPG obtained from a second body part (e.g., a fingertip) of the user attempting to access the device, and compares the first PPG with the second PPG.

  • Patent number: 11580631
Abstract: Dynamic thin film interferometry is a technique used to non-invasively characterize the thickness of thin liquid films that are evolving in both space and time. Recovering the underlying thickness from the captured interferograms, unconditionally and automatically is still an open problem. A compact setup is provided employing a snapshot hyperspectral camera and the related algorithms for the automated determination of thickness profiles of dynamic thin liquid films. The technique is shown to recover film thickness profiles to within 100 nm of accuracy as compared to those profiles reconstructed through the manual color matching process. Characteristics and advantages of hyperspectral interferometry are discussed including the increased robustness against imaging noise as well as the ability to perform thickness reconstruction without considering the absolute light intensity information.

  • Patent number: 11581733
Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques for estimating network states using asynchronous measurements by leveraging network inertia. For example, a device configured in accordance with the techniques of the present disclosure may receive electrical parameter values corresponding to at least one first location within a power network and determine, based on the electrical parameter values and a previous estimated state of the power network, an estimated value of unknown electrical parameters that correspond to a second location within the power network. The device may further cause at least one device within the power network to modify operation based on the estimated value of the unknown electrical parameters. The leveraging of network inertia may obviate the need for probabilistic models or pseudo-measurements.

  • Patent number: 11579175
Abstract: A pulse measurement device is provided, including a first signal source, a second signal source, two microwave resonators, two mixers, and a signal processing unit. The first signal source and the second signal source output a first high-frequency signal and a second high-frequency signal, respectively. Each of the microwave resonators generates an electric field according to the first high-frequency signal, and senses a variation in the electric field which is interfered by a pulse to obtain a sensing signal. Each of the mixers is coupled to one of the microwave resonators, to mix the sensing signal and the second high-frequency signal to output a down-converted signal. The signal processing unit respectively demodulates amplitudes of the down-converted signals of the two mixers to obtain amplitude signals.

  • Patent number: 11577975
Abstract: There is provided a method for controlling bio-slimes in a clean circulating water system through a physical-chemical-superconducting high gradient magnetic separation coupling process. An inorganic composite flocculant is added to circulating water to gather Zoogloea in the circulating water with micro-nano particles in hydrosol through demulsification to form alum floc. The resulting water passes through a superconducting high gradient magnetic separation system. A magnetic field strength of the superconducting high gradient magnetic separation system and flow rate of the circulating water are controlled to generate strong magnetic flocculation to allow floc to grow, such that the Zoogloea in the circulating water wraps the micro-nano particles to separate the Zoogloea from water.
