Abstract: Methods of treatment based on a breast cancer's biomolecule response to targeted treatment are provided. Expression levels of various biomolecules or histological assessment of infiltrating immune cells after initiation of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) targeted treatment can be used to determine whether a breast cancer will achieve a pathologic complete response. Based on likelihood of a pathologic complete response, a breast cancer can be treated accordingly.

Abstract: An improved system for assessing cognitive function is described that uses tracked electrical activity of the brain of the individuals in response to a specific sequence of stimuli in generating data sets, which, for example, can be encapsulated as a data structure. The data sets can include tracked specific response types, at different times and amplitudes, including, but not limited to, event related potential signal components. Brainwave features including, event related potentials, are tracked in relation to both pre-attentive brain responses and consciously controlled attention responses.

Abstract: A p-n junction based III-nitride device in which the p-type layers adjacent to the n-type layers are activated by thermal annealing with a porous n-type tunnel junction layer or layers. The porosity of the n-type tunnel junction layer(s) allows for gas exchange to occur, allowing efficient p-type nitride semiconductor activation. This porosification and activation step can be inserted wherever desired into an existing fabrication process for an LED, laser diode, or any other nitride semiconductor device. In one example, the device comprises multiple LED structures grown successively, separated by tunnel junctions and the buried p-type layers are activated by thermal annealing with adjacent porous n-type layers. Using this method, efficient monolithic multi-color LEDs can be formed.

Abstract: A method for evaluating a biological effect of far infrared (FIR) includes the following. An FIR radiation source is provided to emit FIR. An FIR biological effect index (FBI) of the FIR is measured. A ratio of a blood glucose level change of an experimental group irradiated with the FIR to a blood glucose level change of a control group not irradiated with FIR is defined as the FBI. When the FBI is greater than 1, it is evaluated that the FIR causes a biological effect on an organism.

Abstract: The capillary transfer technology presented here represents a powerful approach to transfer soft films from surface of liquid onto a solid substrate in a fast and defect-free manner. The fundamental theoretical model and transfer criteria validated with comprehensive experiments and finite element analyses, for the first time provides a quantitative guide and optimization for the choice of material systems, operating conditions and environments for scalable on-demand transfers with high yield. The intrinsically moderate capillary transfer force and externally selectable transfer direction offer robust capabilities for achieving deterministic assembly and surface properties of structures with complex layouts and patterns for potentially broad applications in the fabrication of flexible/stretchable electronics, surface wetting structures and optical devices.

Abstract: A method for predicting a structure of an indoor space using radio propagation channel analysis through deep-learning is disclosed. Channel data of radio signals are collected for various indoor spaces, and radio channel parameter data such as PDP, AoA, and AoD are extracted therefrom. A large amount of propagation channel parameter data is input to an artificial neural network together with vertex coordinate data of the corresponding indoor space and deep-learning is performed in advance. The propagation channel parameter data are extracted from the indoor space to be predicted, the best matching indoor space is detected based on the trained artificial neural network. The best matching indoor space is predicted as the structure of the indoor space.

Abstract: Systems and methods for self-cleaning a surface of an object where an electrodynamic shield is mounted to a surface of the object. The electrodynamic shield includes one or more sets of electrodes atop a substrate, at least one or more sets of electrodes being covered in a protective film. A coating is applied to the top surface of the protection film. A signal pulse generator is connected to the one or more sets of electrodes. The signal pulse generator generates a pulse signal that causes the one or more sets of electrodes to generate an electric field. The pulse signal comprises a plurality of different pulse signals which have phase differences between consecutive signals, and the electric field causes a particle atop the coating to experience an electrostatic force and be repelled away from the coating. These pulse signals (including shapes, amplitudes, shifts, and frequencies) can be tuned to increase efficiency of removal depending on dust type and relative humidity.

Abstract: A semiconductor device includes a multilevel receiver including a signal determiner receiving a plurality of multilevel signals and outputting a result of mutual comparison of the plurality of multilevel signals as an N-bit signal, where N is a natural number equal to or greater than 2. A decoder restores a valid signal among the N-bit signals from the signal determiner to an M-bit data signal, where M is a natural number less than N. A clock generator receives a reference clock signal, generates an input clock signal using the reference clock signal, inputs the input clock signal to the signal determiner, and determines a phase of the input clock signal based on an occurrence probability of an invalid signal not restored to the M-bit data signal among the N-bit signals.
