Abstract: Described herein are methods and apparatus for constructing tissue replacements, such as bone replacements that may be used to repair damaged or missing segments of bone, such as may occur in wound repair or as a repair of a congenital anomaly. These methods involve a three-dimensional (3D) cell growth medium made from a yield stress material that allows cells and structures to be easily deposited and positioned.

Abstract: Methods disclosed herein provide for an environmentally-friendly approach that employ citric extracts from fruits as unique reducing and stabilizing agents for making a tellurium nanomaterial. A particular method of making a tellurium nanomaterial includes combining citrus fruit extract with a tellurium salt to form a mixture of citrus fruit extract and dissolved tellurium salt; and heating the mixture of citrus fruit extract and dissolved tellurium salt, thereby making the tellurium nanomaterial. The resulting nanoparticles exhibit enhanced and desirable biomedical properties toward treatment of both infectious diseases and cancer.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for pre-warning deformation of a casing pipe according to a change feature of the b-value of the hydraulic fracturing induced microseismicity. Based on number distribution and seismic magnitudes of hydraulic fracturing induced microseismic monitoring events, a b-value of microseismicity in a fracturing stage is calculated according to a Gutenberg-Richter relation describing frequency-seismic magnitude distribution in seismology, and whether fault activation occurs in a fracturing process is identified according to a change feature of the b-value. According to the method, a cumulative effect of fault activation in the hydraulic fracturing process is considered, and symptoms of fault activation in the fracturing process can be accurately identified, so as to pre-warn deformation of the casing pipe.

Abstract: Ablation visualization and monitoring systems and methods are provided. In some embodiments, such methods comprise applying ablation energy to a tissue to form a lesion in the tissue, illuminating the tissue with a light to excite NADH in the tissue, wherein the tissue is illuminated in a radial direction, an axial direction, or both, monitoring a level of NADH fluorescence in the illuminated tissue to determine when the level of NADH fluorescence decreases from a base level in the beginning of the ablating to a predetermined lower level, and stopping ablation of the tissue when the level of NADH fluorescence reaches the predetermined lower level.

Abstract: A system and method for three-dimensionally printing high viscosity materials using electrohydrodynamics is provided. The system uses a relatively low voltage electric field to draw high viscosity polymers (not in solution) from a nozzle to form three-dimensional objects with lines less than 10 microns in width. Pressurized gas at the nozzle outlet can be used to print large size/dimension parts, instead of or in addition to the electric field to draw the polymers from the nozzle.

Abstract: Methods and systems of eliminating corrupting influences caused by the propagation medium and the data capture devices themselves from useful image features or characteristics such as the degree of symmetry are disclosed. The method includes the steps of obtaining image-plane data using a plurality of data capture devices, wherein the image-plane data is a combined visibility from each of the data capture devices, measuring the closure phase geometrically in the image-plane directly from the image-plane, removing the corruptions from the image features based on the measured closure phase to remove the non-ideal nature of the measurement process, and outputting the uncorrupted morphological features of the target object in the image. The method relies on the Shape-Orientation-Size conservation principle for images produced from three visibilities made from a closed triad of data capture devices.
