Abstract: Disclosed is an indoor SLAM method based on three-dimension (3D) lidar and ultra-wide band (UWB). Firstly, a UWB positioning system is deployed in an indoor area, then a robot carrying 3D lidar sensors explores the indoor area, and finally, a SLAM algorithm integrating lidar data and UWB data is used to generate a map of the explored area. The method specifically includes the following steps: determining a relative pose transformation between the 3D laser SLAM coordinate system and the UWB positioning coordinate system; using UWB data to provide initial value for inter-frame matching of laser odometer; using UWB data to add constraints to SLAM back-end pose graph; and performing loop detection based on curvature feature coding. This application breaks through the limitation of lighting conditions of indoor areas, eliminates the accumulated errors of SLAM, and constructs a high-quality indoor map.

Abstract: Targeted disruption of a specific gene and its subsequent restoration in obligate intracellular bacteria remains extremely challenging due to their absolute requirement for residence inside a host cell to replicate. Here, targeted allelic exchange mutations were created to inactivate two genes and then to restore one of the two genes of a rickettsial pathogen, Ehrlichia chaffeensis. These methods were then also successfully utilized in Ehrlichia canis and Anaplasma phagocyophilum. The resultant mutated pathogens are useful in immunogenic compositions for reducing the incidence of or severity of infection with ricksettsial pathogens.

Abstract: A two-stage driver supplies current to a light emitting diode (LED) load. The driver includes a first stage and a second stage. The second stage is configured to generate a desired current through the LED load. The second stage has a flyback converter having a flyback transformer with a primary winding and a secondary winding. The primary winding is turned on and off by a gating signal. An induced voltage in the secondary winding rings when a current in the secondary winding is discharged. The flyback converter is configured to turn on the primary winding only during a detected valley in the ringing of the secondary winding. If the primary winding is turned on during a detected valley different from the previous detected valley, a valley jump is detected and the switching frequency is adjusted.

Abstract: A system and method of adjusting a field of view in an imaging system includes transmitting light across a transmission optical path and defining a field of view encompassing both uniform and spatially tenuous target objects within the transmitted light. A sensor within a return optical path of reflected light from at least a portion of one of the target objects allows a data processing computer to compile an image from a series of data outputs from the sensor. The image is analyzed to determine a region of interest within the image and by dynamically adjusting the light source, the computer is configured to change the field of view of the light source such that the image includes a higher resolution and/or signal intensity for the region of interest. The region of interest may include at least one spatially tenuous target object.
