  • Patent number: 11510907
Abstract: Described herein is a genetic modifier of cystic fibrosis (CF), which may serve as a predictor of the efficacy of a CFTR-directed therapy. SNPs rs7512462 or rs2869027 in non-coding regions of SLC26A9 are shown to correlate with CF lung disease severity in patients having CFTR mutations that leave protein at the cell surface, e.g. gating mutations such as G551D. It is also shown that patient response to Ivacaftor correlates with SLC26A9 genotype. Given the biology of SLC26A9, risk alleles of SLC26A9 should correlate with reduced SLC26A9. SLC26A9 activity (marked by e.g. genotype or expression level) is therefore a predictor of treatment efficacy for any CFTR-directed therapeutic, such as Ivacaftor or Lumacaftor. Associated methods of selecting and treating patients are described, along with related kits, uses, and drug discovery platforms.

  • Patent number: 11514579
Abstract: An improved method of performing object segmentation and classification that reduces the memory required to perform these tasks, while increasing predictive accuracy. The improved method utilizes a capsule network with dynamic routing. Capsule networks allow for the preservation of information about the input by replacing max-pooling layers with convolutional strides and dynamic routing, allowing for the reconstruction of an input image from output capsule vectors. The present invention expands the use of capsule networks to the task of object segmentation and medical image-based cancer diagnosis for the first time in the literature; extends the idea of convolutional capsules with locally-connected routing and propose the concept of deconvolutional capsules; extends the masked reconstruction to reconstruct the positive input class; and proposes a capsule-based pooling operation for diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 11510359
Abstract: An automatic feeding device and method for a seedling bed of a transplanter, comprising: a bracket installed on the transplanter; several trays, obliquely arranged on the bracket downwards, and the bottom of the trays being provided with release mechanisms for releasing the rice seedling bed; a conveyor belt, arranged on the bracket; a photoelectric sensor, arranged on the transplanting platform; and a controller, in communication connection with the photoelectric sensor, when the photoelectric sensor detects that the height of the remaining rice seedling bed on the transplanting platform is lower than the height of the photoelectric sensor. Only one driver is needed to operate, so that the labor input is greatly reduced, and the labor intensity is reduced; meanwhile, the space is saved by the reduction of the number of workers, enabling more seedling raw materials to be stored.

  • Patent number: 11513812
Abstract: Many mobile devices are used for documenting different scenarios that are encountered by the users as they go about their daily lives. In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 11510652
Abstract: A system useful for performing ultrasound elastography of organs such as the liver allows efficient and robust data acquisition. The system may be applied to perform real-time, noninvasive ultrasound imaging of the liver in humans. Steady-state, shear wave absolute elastography is used to measure the Young's modulus of the liver tissue. This method involves the use of an external exciter or vibrator to shake the tissue and generate a shear wave. Accurate placement of an ultrasound transducer facilitates measurement of the tissue motion due to the shear wave. The stiffness of tissues in the region being imaged may be computed from the measured tissue motions. The following innovations address both vibrator and transducer placement, as well as some specific methods to ensure adequate wave propagation, in order to obtain accurate and consistent measurements.

  • Patent number: 11515059
Abstract: Disclosed is a preparation method of an all-weather self-healing stretchable conductive material, which uses acrylic acid and modified polyglutamic acid as a substrate, adds Fe3+ to form coordination, adjusts the volume ratio of water and glycerin, and heats to generate radical polymerization, so as to obtain a uniform double-layer three-dimensional network structure. The obtained polyacrylic acid and polyglutamic acid composite hydrogel has good mechanical properties and characteristics of rapid self-healing. A composite carbon film is prepared by depositing a metal layer of 20 nm to 80 nm thick on a single-layer aligned carbon film by magnetron sputtering, and then the composite hydrogel is adhered to each of the upper and lower sides of the composite carbon film respectively to form an all-weather self-healing stretchable conductive material of a sandwich structure.

  • Patent number: 11514049
Abstract: A query suggestion to expand an initial query is calculated whereby the cost of the expanded initial query is bounded in both time and quality. The user validates a subset of the top-n answers Q(G) to a query Q and provides adjusted configuration parameters. The top-n diversified ?-expansion terms Q? are calculated from the validated subset of answers Q(G) to the query Q and are provided to an interactive user interface for selection. Answers Q?(G) for the top-n diversified ?-expansion terms Q? are cost bounded by cost threshold ? and exploration range r specified by the user. The user selects a new term of terms Q? and an incremental query evaluation of the new term is invoked to compute expanded query answers Q?(G) by incrementally updating the validated subset of answers Q(G), without re-evaluating an expanded query Q? including the new term from scratch.
