Abstract: A de-noising algorithm is executed dynamically as data is received to generate and update a set of candidate solutions. Each candidate solution is a representation of the data using one or more line segments, and each line segment is fitted to the data within the time period that the segment spans. During each iteration of the algorithm, one candidate solution is identified as a best solution, and properties of the best solution are utilized to dynamically compute properties of the data. To limit the number of active candidate solutions and the corresponding processing power required to update and evaluate them, candidate solutions that fall too far behind the best candidate solution are eliminated from consideration. The de-noising algorithm finds particular utility in the context of a load cell signal that is representative of a weight of an intravenous fluid container.

Abstract: Provided are methods and compositions for treating an individual who has a medulloblastoma. Methods for treating an individual who has a medulloblastoma tumor can include a step of administering to the individual, at a dose sufficient to reduce the size and/or growth rate of the medulloblastoma tumor, a composition that includes a casein kinase II (CK2) inhibitor (e.g., a CK2-selective inhibitor such as CX-4945). In some cases, the medulloblastoma tumor is a hedgehog-dependent medulloblastoma tumor. In some cases, the medulloblastoma tumor is a hedgehog-independent medulloblastoma tumor. In some cases, the medulloblastoma tumor is smoothened inhibitor-resistant (SMO inhibitor-resistant). In some cases, the medulloblastoma is resistant to treatment with 4,5,6,7-tetrabromo-2H-benzotriazole (TBB). In some cases, the dose is sufficient to cause long term regression of the medulloblastoma tumor, and in some cases, the dose is sufficient to increase the chance of survival of the individual.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device determines real and reactive power flows at a transformer at a given time, and computes, based on the real power and reactive power flow at the transformer, an amount of reactive power adjustment to produce a desired voltage differential across the transformer. The computing device may then adjust the reactive power flow from a secondary side of the transformer at substantially the given time based on the computed amount.

Abstract: A 3-way high-speed valve including a housing, first and second spools, and an actuator mechanism. The spools are slidably disposed in bores of the housing. The housing further defines an inlet, first and second intermediate ports, and first and second outlets. The inlet is fluidly open to the first bore. The intermediate ports each fluidly connect the first and second bores. The first and second outlets are fluidly open to the second bore. The actuator mechanism articulates the spool bodies to generate differing flow conditions of the valve, including a first flow condition in which the inlet is fluidly connected to the first outlet, and a second flow condition in which the inlet is fluidly connected to the second outlet.

Abstract: Optimal enhancement of 3G cellular network capacity utilizes two components of learning and optimization. First, a pair of learning approaches are used to model cellular network capacity measured in terms of total number of users carried and predict breakpoints of cellular towers as a function of network traffic loading. Then, an optimization problem is formulated to maximize network capacity subject to constraints of user quality and predicted breakpoints. Among a number of alternatives, a variant of simulated annealing referred to as Block Coordinated Descent Simulated Annealing (BCDSA) is presented to solve the problem. Performance measurements show that BCDSA algorithm offers dramatically improved algorithmic success rate and the best characteristics in utility, runtime, and confidence range measures compared to other solution alternatives.
