Abstract: Described herein is the discovery of novel PSMA-specific peptides, which were identified through a novel combinatorial biopanning method. One of the novel PSMA-specific peptides discovered, GTIQPYPFSWGY (or GTI) (SEQ ID NO: 2), exhibits high binding affinity and selectivity to PSMA and PSMA-positive prostate cancer cells. It was found that GTI can mediate internalization of the apoptotic KLA peptide to PSMA-positive LNCaP cells and induce cell death. Moreover, a FAM-labeled GTI peptide shows a high and specific tumor uptake in nude mice bearing human prostate cancer xenografts. It was demonstrated that the GTI peptide can be employed as a PSMA-specific ligand for prostate cancer diagnosis and/or for targeted drug delivery to prostate cancer cells.

Abstract: A multi-walled carbon nanotube thin film can be manufactured and operatively attached to a fabric for use with immobilized patients to sense when one or more body parts of an immobilized patient experiences prolonged pressure. A boundary of the multi-walled carbon nanotube thin film can be equipped with a plurality of electrodes that can be injected with current. Voltage measurements can be taken which can be translated into changes in impedance throughout the multi-walled carbon nanotube thin film. The changes in impedance, in turn, are representative of points and magnitudes of pressure experienced by the multi-walled carbon nanotube thin film as a result of the one or more body parts of the immobilized patient contacting and exerting pressure on the multi-walled carbon nanotube thin film.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for transferring data from an apparatus called multi-protocol gateway in a network seamlessly that operates using a particular protocol, to another device that is either in the same network or outside operating in a totally different protocol is described. Today, to accomplish this requires external units, one per technology. For example, for supporting both WiFi and WiMAX devices today, we would require a WiFi access point, a WiMAX base station and a router. We provide plug-ins that would handle multiple protocols within the same gateway, to cater to devices that operate in those protocols. The apparatus translates between various protocols in the back end making it inexpensive and portable. The unit is scalable, grows with technology, and acts as a gateway to a local network. The device can be configured to address Quality of Service, Priority between technologies and fault- tolerance through management layer.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a system and method for harvesting solar thermal energy. According to at least one embodiment, there is provided a system which includes an absorption module, a storage module, and a flow control module. The absorption module retains a working fluid in a substantially constant volume and facilitates absorption of solar thermal energy in the working fluid. The storage module is fluidically coupled to the absorption module and is spatially positioned such that working fluid stored therein has higher gravitational potential energy relative to that stored in the absorption module. The flow control module permits passage of the working fluid from the absorption module to the storage module based on pressure of the working fluid in the absorption module exceeding a predefined threshold. When the working fluid transfers from the absorption module to the storage module, the thermal kinetic energy of the working fluid is transformed into gravitational potential energy thereof.
