Abstract: Immunogenic compositions are provided herein that are useful for inducing an immune response specific against group A streptococcus (GAS). Immunogenic compositions provided herein are multivalent and comprise a plurality of immunogenic peptides or fusion polypeptides comprising the immunogenic peptides that induce an immune response against GAS. The immunogenic compositions provided herein induce an immune response against the GAS serotypes represented by an immunogenic peptide (derived from an M protein or Spa protein) comprised within the immunogenic composition and also induce an immune response against serotypes that are unrepresented by any immunogenic peptide included in the immunogenic composition. Methods for using the compositions for inducing an immune response against GAS and for treating or reducing the likelihood of occurrence of a GAS infection are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides devices and articles of manufacture comprising a low-voltage operable, highly sensitive, and selectively responsive polymer for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds, including explosives. Resistive devices were fabricated by simple spin-coating on flexible and transparent substrates as well as silicon substrates, and were stable under ambient temperature and oxygen levels before exposure to the nitroaromatics. After exposure to 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), the devices showed increased conductance, even with pg quantities of TNT, accompanied by a confirming color change from colorless to deep red. The relative conductance increase per unit exposure is the highest yet reported for TNT. Aromatic anion salts, on the other hand, did not induce any electronic responses. Methods of making the articles and devices, and their use are also provided.

Abstract: Methods and systems forming biocompatible materials are disclosed herein. Forming a biocompatible material may include contacting a liquid, having a linking material, with an adjoining material having embedded therein a nucleating material that causes the linking material to nucleate and grow into the liquid. After a time sufficient to cause the linking material to grow substantially from the nucleating material into a space occupied by the liquid, the liquid may be solidified to form a solid such that the linking material secures the solid to the adjoining material.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing a polyolefin composition comprising contacting a binuclear metallocene pre-catalyst and a co-catalyst, adding a excess of a metal alkyl, then adding a first olefin monomer. The method allows for the production of polyolefins with a highly stereoregular stereochemical micrsostructure through living coordination polymerization in which rapid reversible chain transfer between a racemic mixture of a chiral active transition metal propagating center and multiple equivalents of inert main group metal alkyl is competitive with chain-growth propagation at the active center.
