  • Publication number: 20090274080
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method or unifying operations of a plurality of boards in a CDMA communication system by using logical addresses of the boards. Conventionally, since a board with a physical slot ID must be attached to a slot of the system corresponding to the physical slot ID, the board cannot be recognized by the system if it is attached to another slot of the system. In the present invention, a board is attached to a slot of the system on the basis of a logical address of the board, which is stored in a board configuration information. According to the present invention, since a board can be attached to any slot of the system regardless of the physical slot ID of the board, the boards can be easily managed.

  • Patent number: 7596084
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for using Differentiated Services (DiffServ) to implement the IP packet classification and the marking of a Differential Service Code Point (DSCP) for the quality of service (QoS) in the wireless access network of the IP-based universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS). The present invention makes a classification to the data stream which is outgoing from the Iub interface at the Node B side, data stream which is outgoing from the Iub interface at the RNC side and data stream which is outgoing from the Iur interface at the RNC side according to the direction and the process of the respective data streams, and assigns and adjusts the priority of the data stream classified according to the principles for optimizing QoS and radio resources. When the network is congested, the data stream with a high level will have a higher priority than that with a lower level in queue and source occupancy, and the packet with a lower priority in the same queue is discarded.

  • Publication number: 20090100188
Abstract: A method for caching of stream data is accomplished by assigning for each video segment in the system a likelihood rating of future showing and then determining for each node that contains a copy of the segment a second likelihood value that reflecting a probability that the node will be used to serve streams for the segment. The future cost value of a segment copy is then predicted and preload orders are issued to nodes for segments with the per-copy likelihood above a predefined threshold.

Abstract: An EPG service architecture incorporates multiple EPG servers connected in a cluster. An active dispatcher is associated with at least one EPG server and multiple standby dispatchers are associated with the cluster. A plurality of STBs interfaced with the EPG server cluster issue requests for EPG service for which the active dispatcher employs an affiliation table as a portion of the cache for redirecting each request to a specific one of the EPG servers affiliated with the STB issuing the request. The active dispatcher multicasts the affiliation table to the multiple standby dispatchers for synchronization.

  • Publication number: 20090019161
Abstract: An EPG service architecture incorporates multiple EPG servers connected in a cluster with each EPG server having an EPG service module and a dispatcher. Each dispatcher has the capability for state determination as an active or standby dispatcher. A plurality of STBs interface with the EPG server cluster and issue requests for EPG service which are routed by the active dispatcher. The routing is accomplished by redirection of the request to an EPG service module selected from the multiple EPG servers in the cluster. Each EPG service module includes the capability for service connection to the STB upon receiving the redirection from the active dispatcher. Upon a determination that the current active dispatcher is not operating, the standby dispatchers vote for a replacement which then assumes the active dispatcher role.

  • Patent number: 7471692
Abstract: An apparatus and method for maximizing call connect rate in a remote access application. The method uses an adjustable hunting algorithm for allocating calls to channels to be connected. The method described categorizes the channels based on their past performances into groups that are preferred to be used. The results of the channels performances are accumulated and saved in order to decide which channels are to be used more often than others. The channels that perform the worst will be used sparingly, thus reducing the possibility that they may be locked out. This gives the PSTN switch the most optimal number of channels to choose from since the least number of channels will be locked out. Since the best performing channels will be used most often, the system will have maximized its overall connect rate. The channels will constantly be monitored in order to guarantee that the next most effective available channel will be used for all incoming calls.
