Abstract: Apertures in internal partitions provide gas passages. A separator chamber with narrow liquid return slot leads to a gas outlet hose coupling.
Abstract: The positive electrode for an air/zinc element is a depolarizer mass attached to a perforated plastic carrier with interposition of a conductive foil and a metal foil take-off conductor, both also perforated. The perforations in the plastic carrier are in the form of hollow rivets extending toward the foils, the foils are engaged by their own perforations concentrically upon said rivets, and the rivets have outwardly protruding collars extending over the foils, whereby the foils are attached and all perforations are aligned.
Abstract: In a cell which uses a light metal negative electrode, the positive electrode mass has an electrochemically reducible component which is mainly Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3 and the electrolyte is a conductive salt dissolved in a mixture composed mainly of propylene carbonate and dimethoxyethane.
Abstract: Catalytic material in powder form flows downwardly along a vibratory spiral conveyor chute, while gas flows counter to the powder, preferably in excess. Mixing ramp arrangements may be provided in the chute.

Abstract: Battery cell cups are filled with compressed depolarizer mass by performing a plurality of mass insertion and compression strokes for each cup. In the first stroke, a mass plug remaining from the compression strokes for the preceding cup is introduced into the cell. Overdosage leaves a mass plug for the next cup.A rotary machine performs the successive strokes at work stations spaced around the periphery. Numerous cups can be processed simultaneously by the machine.Automatic control of stroke pressure is provided.
Abstract: A gas venting plug which separates entrained moisture has a gas escape nozzle and cooperating impingement plate, and a return duct for the separated liquid. The nozzle opening and return ducting are so dimensioned that the hydrostatic pressure in the return ducting is higher than the liquid capillary pressure in the nozzle.
Abstract: Lead storage battery terminals are equipped with inserts of high conductivity, high strength metal, having protruding portions in the form of annular loops mounted at right angles to the terminals.
Abstract: Inner and outer spiral-wrapped layers with adhesive between them form a sleeve. The adhesive is then activated. The outer layer covers at least the adjoining edges of the inner layer.
Abstract: The pole bolt protruding through the cover aperture is surrounded by a section of shrink tubing. Adhesive is provided between bolt and tubing. A cap is placed over the bolt resting on the upper edge of the aperture, and a cast body fills the space between cap and shrink tubing.

Abstract: Lithium- or calcium-electrode elements are manufactured in air by first pretreating the electrode foil with a gas which reacts with the metal foil surface to form a temporary protective layer.
Abstract: Galvanic element with a negative electrode of a light metal, a non-aqueous electrolyte and a positive electrode containing arsenites, particularly silver and mercury arsenites, as the electrochemical reducible part of the electrode mass. The use of arsenites exhibit an especially high energy density and a very constant discharge potential during operation.
Abstract: The negative zinc electrode of a primary element with alkaline electrolyte and hydrophobic air electrode has a compressible expansion body positioned within the negative electrode.
Abstract: The sealing ring which encircles the pole bolt protruding through a cell cover is compressed between the cover and the head of the pole bolt. The degree of compression is limited by a non-elastic spacer ring encircling the sealing ring.
Abstract: A storage battery sealed gas-tightly and liquid-tightly in which an electrode set with a pole lead is inserted in a battery casing fully open at one end and closed at the other end except for a central opening through which the pole lead extends. Insulation prevents electrical contact between pole lead and casing. A bottom disk is welded on the full opening of the casing to make it electrolyte-tight and gas-tight. Electrolyte is introduced through the central opening and the opening then sealed. In the preferred system, the pole is a hollow terminal post connected to a contact disk attached to electrodes of one polarity of the electrode winding. The electrodes of other polarity are connected to a bottom disk which is welded on the full opening.
Abstract: Heating for a vibratory spiral conveyor used to react powdery and gaseous substances is accomplished by an expanded metal resistance heater element positioned between adjacent turns of the conveyor.
Abstract: Tubular battery electrodes are filled with a mix of lead oxide, sulfuric acid and water to which electrolyte-resistant fibers have been added. These fibers strengthen the mass and reduce its tendency to escape through the pores of the tube envelope fabric. Also the product resulting from this method.
Abstract: In a galvanic cell with negative zinc electrode and positive electrode of AgO, the AgO is surface-reduced to Ag.sub.2 O, and insulated from the current takeoff, to which connection is made only by a porous silver layer.
Abstract: Powdery material flows downwardly along a vibratory spiral conveyor chute, while gas flows counter to the powder, preferably in excess. Mixing ramp arrangements are provided in the chute. These involve inclined ramp surfaces dividing the powder stream into two layers, and provisions for causing the initially uppermost layer to tumble down onto the chute bottom while the initially lowermost layer is still supported on its ramp. The latter then drops down, too, and now becomes the uppermost layer.
