Abstract: The present teaching relates to method, system, medium, and implementations for authenticating a user. A first request is received to set up authentication information with respect to a user, wherein the first request specifies a type of information to be used for future authentication of the user. It is determined whether the type of information related to the user poses risks based on a reverse information search result. The type of information for being used for future authentication of the user is rejected when the type of information is determined to pose risks.

Abstract: A method for actively allocating available bandwidth to consumer nodes by a resource node delivering time-sensitive multimedia content in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. The method comprises performing a check if the resource node can allocate bandwidth to at least one additional consumer node from the consumer nodes; selecting at least one consumer node from a list of consumer nodes addressable by the resource node; and sending an availability notification to each of the selected at least one consumer node from the list of consumer nodes.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for an interactive communication experience on mobile devices. In general, the present disclosure discusses dynamically manipulating or modifying graphic user representations during an electronic communication. The modification or manipulation of these graphic user representations enables users to convey nuances of mood and feelings rather than being confined to conveying them through conventional communications, including text, images, video, or selecting an appropriate emoticon or avatar from a palette of predetermined emoticons or avatars.

Abstract: The technologies described herein identify multiple electronic devices belonging to the same group. A computer system receives, from network accessing applications of a plurality of electronic devices, internet protocol (IP) trajectory information about the network accessing applications via a network. The IP trajectory information includes a user identifier, a list of IP addresses associated with each of the network accessing applications, and timestamps specifying times each of the network accessing applications accesses the network. The computer system identifies and removes commercial IP addresses from the list of IP addresses, analyzes IP trajectory information to retrieve a most commonly used IP address for each of the network accessing applications during a certain period, and determines that different network accessing applications belong to the same group if the most commonly used IP addresses for the different network accessing applications are the same.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for utilizing unused network capacity for prefetch requests. One method includes: receiving, over a network, network traffic information from a network provider of the network; determining a threshold value for prefetch request fulfillment based on the received network traffic information; receiving, over the network, a plurality of prefetch requests from an application running on a mobile device connected to the network of the network provider; determining, for each prefetch request of the plurality of prefetch requests, a score for the prefetch request based on the received plurality of prefetch requests; and responding to, for each prefetch request of the plurality of prefetch requests, the prefetch request based on the determined threshold value and the determined score for the prefetch request.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computerized system and method for syndicating independent review and rating information for use by third parties. In one aspect, the present invention includes a method and system for allowing web site operators to cause syndicated ratings from an independent rating provider to appear on web pages generated in response to requests to the operators' web sites, while preserving the independence of the content of the ratings and providing assurance to the viewing public of that independence. Aspects of the present invention allow for ratings from an independent rating provider to be provided in real time and further assists the rating provider in obtaining additional ratings through the web site operators' web pages.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for processing electronic content, such as text, videos, and images. According to certain embodiments, user interactions with electronic content may be tracked over a plurality of modalities, such as web pages, email, mobile applications, and social media. The tracked user interactions may include copy/paste events, explicit user highlighting, social sharing, and user voting. Key passages of electronic content may be identified based on the tracked user interactions and ranked against one another. Ranking of passages may be based, for example, on a raw or normalized score for the identified key passages. Alternatively, the ranking of a passage may be based on a ratio of user interactions with the passage to total views of the electronic text containing the passage. One or more of the identified key passages (e.g., the highest ranked passages) may be published to one or more applications.

The disclosed techniques may include determining availability of content related to the content topic based on a set of content items in the content pool, and determining a level of interest of a set of users in the content topic based at least on information related to interaction of the set of users with the set of content items. A level of representation of the content topic in the content pool may be determined based at least on the determined availability of content and the determined level of interest. Based on the level of representation, at least some of the set of content items related to the content topic may be updated, e.g., content items may be added to or removed from the content pool.

Abstract: Devices often receive content items to be saved for later presentation to a user. In some instances, the content of the message is analyzed to retrieve supplemental information from external data sources, such as a map to a location discussed in a message. However, such supplementing often fails to reflect the personal context of the content item to the user, who may not easily recall the associated personal context when the content item is later presented. Instead, for a content item to be saved, a device may evaluate personal data sources to identify the personal context of the content item to the user, and add personal context annotations to a content item record of the saved content item. Later, during a presentation of the content item to the user, the personal context annotations may be included as a reflection of the personal context of the content item to the user.

Abstract: Method, system, and programs for identifying and delivering content. In one example, a request for content is first received from a user, via the communication platform. One or more parameters are obtained which are associated with the platform on which the requested content is to be presented. When the requested page is retrieved, it is determined whether the page was created with respect to a second platform that is more restrictive than the first platform. If so, additional content is generated, the selection of which is based on the parameters associated with the platform on which the requested content is to be presented as well as the content of the requested content page. The additional content is integrated with the requested content page and then transmitted to the user as a response to the request.
