  • Patent number: 9521510
Abstract: A system may be configured to allow for storage of location information regarding a set of user devices. The location information may be updated relatively frequently, and without introducing additional traffic into a wireless telecommunications network associated with the user devices. The location information may be made available to internal devices associated with the wireless telecommunications network and/or to external third party devices (such as banks, payment card processors, or advertisers) with user consent. Since the information is obtained and stored prior to requests, the location information may be provided, in response to requests, relatively quickly.

  • Patent number: 9520962
Abstract: A transport management system receives a request for a planned interruption in an optical network, and identifies transport equipment of the optical network affected by the planned interruption. The transport management system selectively sends a notification, from the network device, the identified transport equipment affected by the planned interruption, including a scheduled time of the planned interruption and a duration associated with the planned interruption, where the notification enables the notified transport equipment to buffer data to be transmitted on links affected by the planned interruption for the notified duration of the planned interruption.

  • Patent number: 9521055
Abstract: Network connectivity management includes monitoring a circuit, wherein the circuit is a virtual connection between multiple networks via a provider core network. A device receives a plurality of network management messages associated with the circuit, and a determination is made regarding whether the circuit is experiencing a connectivity issue based on the network management messages. When it is determined that the circuit is experiencing a connectivity issue, then certain actions can be initiated.

  • Patent number: 9520005
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a wireless appliance for monitoring a vehicle. The wireless appliance includes a microprocessor configured to select a vehicle-communication protocol of a host vehicle, and then communicate with the host vehicle through the vehicle-communication protocol. The appliance also includes a vehicle-communication circuit, in electrical communication with the microprocessor, which collects diagnostic data from the host vehicle using the vehicle-communication protocol. A GPS module, also in electrical communication with the microprocessor, generates location-based data. For transmitting these data, the appliance includes a first wireless transmitter operating on a terrestrial network and a second wireless transmitter operating on a satellite network. The microprocessor selects the first or second wireless transmitter for transmitting the diagnostic and location-based data.

  • Patent number: 9521179
Abstract: A method includes receiving at least one manifest file, playlists and video chunks for at least one channel of a live media stream. The method includes validating, by a processing device, the live media stream to ensure that the at least one manifest file, the playlists and the video chunks are available. Validating the live media stream includes determining whether the at least one live media stream complies with at least one predetermined standard. The method includes validating the live media stream to ensure that the files are not stale and live. The method also includes validating the live media stream to ensure that the video chunks are properly sequenced, and validating the live media stream based on Hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) headers for the video chunks to determine whether errors are received associated with the live video stream.

  • Patent number: 9521077
Abstract: A system may receive, based on a generic access point name stored by a user device, a request to establish a network connection. The request may include a user device identifier that identifies the user device. The system may determine, based on the user device identifier, a specific access point name associated with the user device. The specific access point name may be different from the generic access point name. The system may determine, based on the specific access point name, information that identifies a gateway node for processing traffic associated with the user device. The system may cause the network connection to be established based on the user device identifier and the information that identifies the gateway node.

  • Patent number: 9521030
Abstract: A device may receive campaign information for deploying a toll-free data service campaign. The campaign information may identify a uniform resource identifier for accessing a toll-free data service associated with the toll-free data service campaign. The device may determine a host name included in the uniform resource identifier. The device may determine a network address associated with the host name. The device may modify the uniform resource identifier, to generate a modified uniform resource identifier for accessing the toll-free data service, by replacing the host name, included in the uniform resource identifier, with the network address. The device may deploy the toll-free data service campaign by providing, to an enforcement device, the modified uniform resource identifier.

  • Patent number: 9516131
Abstract: A network device stores a mapping configuration to associate client type profiles with particular delivery profiles for media content and receives, from a client device, a request for a link to a content selection. The request includes a content identifier and parameters for the client device. The network device constructs, based on the parameters for the client device, a particular client type profile and maps the particular client type profile to one of the particular delivery profiles in the mapping configuration. The network device constructs a uniform resource locator (URL), based on the one of the particular delivery profiles and the content identifier, that provides the link to the content selection with formatting that is suitable for the particular client type profile and sends the URL to the client device.

  • Patent number: 9516172
Abstract: A method describes enriching a Call Detail Record (CDR) to identify traffic routing through network providers. The method comprises the steps of obtaining Operator Carrier Numbers (OCNs) assigned to network providers operating in a network; obtaining trunk group identifiers for identifying trunks configured to interconnect an Originating Provider's network including a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) with network providers; and identifying network providers configured to communicate through the trunk groups with the Originating Provider's network, including the MSC. The method also obtains a Called Party Number (CdPN) from the CDR; and associates the CdPN with an OCN of a network provider. The method also determines whether the OCN associated with the trunk group and the OCN of the CdPN are the same.

  • Patent number: 9516549
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system may be configured to provide wireless service via unlicensed, licensed, and/or shared frequency bands (e.g., frequency bands that are shared with other telecommunications systems, and for which access is regulated by an external entity). A load balancing technique, described herein, may provide load balancing between licensed and shared frequency bands based on relative load of the licensed and shared networks, and/or other factors (e.g., a priority access license (“PAL”) of a base station to which the user device is attached). Techniques described herein may be useful in carrier aggregation, in which a user device may simultaneously attach to multiple carriers (e.g., a licensed carrier, along with a shared carrier and/or an unlicensed carrier).
