Abstract: A fiber optic cable assembly may include a fiber optic cable that has a jacket and a plurality of optical fibers enclosed by and extending longitudinally within the jacket. The fiber optic cable assembly may also include a micro-duct disposed around at least a portion of the jacket, for example, where the cable is buried below grade. The fiber optic cable assembly may further include an insulating layer disposed around at least a portion of the micro-duct, and an outer layer disposed around the insulating layer. The insulating layer and the outer layer may protect the micro-duct and the cable in the event of high temperature exposure that may arise from nearby high temperature utilities, such as in a manhole, as well as to enable the fiber optic cable to be air jetted through the micro-duct from a starting point to a terminating point of a cable routing path.

Abstract: An enhanced television service provides a shared folder over a television network, such as a fiber optic network. Users, the service provider, or trusted sources, share use of a program folder via television. A user recommends content, such as a program listing, to other geographically dispersed subscribers, by sending the content to the subscribers' shared folder. Users may create a personal content guide for use instead of a standard program guide that contains identical listings for all subscribers. The shared folder may consist of programs from a variety of channels as well as other content and may be populated by trusted sources in remote locations. Users may search for content that matches search criteria and may delete or edit listings from the shared folder. The contents of the folder may not only include program listings, but also other content such as movies, television shows, web sites, photos, home videos, etc.

Abstract: An alignment fixture is configured to receive a group of optical fibers with each of the optical fibers having a coating and a bare fiber end. The fixture includes a first end configured to permit insertion of the optical fibers into a body of the fixture and a second end configured to align the bare fiber ends of the optical fibers in a particular arrangement. The fixture includes channels extending from the first end to the second end. An insertion point of each channel is at least twice the diameter of a coating of the one of the optical fibers. An exit point of each channel is narrower than the insertion point and is configured to position the bare fiber end of the optical fiber in the particular arrangement within a desired tolerance relative to other optical fibers. The alignment fixture enables easy splice alignment and protection in the field.

Abstract: A device, of a cloud computing environment, receives user requirements for the cloud computing environment from user device(s). Each of the user requirements is associated with a corresponding one of the user device(s). The device receives system requirements associated with the cloud computing environment. The system requirements include quality of service (QoS) requirements for computing resources of the cloud computing environment. The device generates proposed arrangement(s) of sets of computing resources, from the computing resources of the cloud computing environment, based on the user requirements and the system requirements. Each of the proposed arrangements is associated with a corresponding one of the user devices. The device provides information associated with the proposed arrangements to the user devices.

Abstract: A device may manage end-to-end traffic across a network based on adjusting Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. The device may receive performance requirements for packets corresponding to different applications and QoS levels within segments across the network, and measure performance values along the segments across the network. The device may also identify the application data flows and their associated network locations failing to meet performance values across network segments, and detect an application data flow failing to meet end-to-end (E2E) performance requirements. The device may determine network location(s) to adjust the QoS parameters of the detected application data flow, and adjust its QoS parameters at the determined network location(s) to bring the detected application data flow into compliance with its E2E performance requirements, while maintaining E2E performances compliance of other application data flows.

Abstract: Voice over LTE (VoLTE) services may be provided to a roaming mobile device, even when the home network of the mobile device does not provide VoLTE service. In one implementation, one or more devices in a network may determine based on a mobile device attaching to a network as a roaming device for the network, a home network of the mobile device. The devices may further determine whether the home network, associated with the mobile device, provides VoLTE services; transmit, based on the determination that the home network does not provide VoLTE services, a VoLTE client application to the mobile device, the VoLTE client application providing functionality, for the mobile device, relating to usage of VoLTE services in the network. The devices may further communicate with the mobile device and the VoLTE client application, to provide one or more VoLTE services to the mobile device.

Abstract: A policy enforcer device may determine a value of multiple controls included on a control device. The multiple controls may be associated with zones of a facility. The policy enforcer device may determine, based on the values of the plurality of controls, relative amounts of bandwidth to allocate, of a total amount of available bandwidth, to the zones of the facility; and control one or more network devices to provide the determined amounts of bandwidth to the zones of the facility.

The device determines recommended mission plans based on the mission information and the particular UAV, and presents the recommended mission plans via a second user interface. The device receives a selection of a particular mission plan via the second user interface, and generates mission plan instructions for the particular mission plan. The device provides the mission plan instructions to the particular UAV to permit the particular UAV to travel the flight path and perform the mission operations.

Abstract: A mobile device includes a mobile network module to present media content using a public network and a home network module to present media content from a home network. The mobile device uses the mobile network module to receive a media streaming session via a broadband cellular connection and detects a local wireless connection to a device in a home network. The mobile device uses the home network module to initiate, via the local wireless connection, a home media session with the device in the home network and matches content of the home media session with content of the media streaming session. The mobile device presents, to a user and using the home network module, the matched content of the home media session and disables the media streaming session.

Abstract: A device may determine a campaign rule for providing a toll-free data service to a mobile device associated with a user. The campaign rule may identify a condition for charging a service provider, associated with the toll-free data service, for data used by the mobile device in association with the toll-free data service. The device may determine an efficiency metric associated with the user. The efficiency metric may be determined based on providing toll-free data services to the user or a set of users associated with a demographic with which the user belongs. The device may analyze the efficiency metric based on the campaign rule. The device may selectively provide the toll-free data service to the mobile device, associated with the user, based on analyzing the efficiency metric.

Abstract: A video image capture component includes a light source operable in a first spectrum, a first image detector operable in the first spectrum, a second light source operable in a second spectrum, and a second image detector operable in the second spectrum. A filtering component generates a combination image by filtering a first image obtained by the first image detector with a high-contrast filter, resulting in a high-contrast image, and masking a second image obtained by the second image detector using the high-contrast image. A compositing component creates a composite image from the combination image and a selected image. A display component displays the composite image. Alternative systems and methods for creating a combination image include techniques involving thermal imaging, laser detection, and narrow band frequency detection.

Abstract: Content may be transmitted to mobile devices, in a network, using a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) multicast technique over wireless interfaces in the network. In one implementation, network elements in the network may receive feedback about the MBMS multicast transmission, where the feedback relates to a quality of the content, as received by the one or more mobile devices, or to the quality of the radio channel. The devices may determine whether to modify transmission parameters relating to the MBMS multicast transmission and may determine whether to retransmit lost data, corresponding to the content, to the mobile devices. The lost data may be retransmitted as a unicast transmission or a multicast transmission.

Abstract: A device is configured to receive an alarm message from a particular device that received a radio resource control request from a client device. The alarm message may indicate that a threshold access limit to an operator network is satisfied by the client device or that a particular protocol is being used by the client device. The device may determine a policy associated with the client device. The policy may indicate a policy rule associated with a policy action to be taken if the policy rule is violated. The device may determine the policy rule is violated based on the alarm message received from the particular device. The device may instruct the particular device to perform the policy action, by accepting or rejecting the radio resource control request, based on the policy rule being violated.

Abstract: A stage-based user interface for a mobile device may include a sequence of panels that each include a cluster or grouping of items, such as graphical links, application shortcuts, representations of documents, or representations of other data associated with the mobile device. The panels in the sequence of panels may be grouped so that panels that are related or that include similar items may be placed next to one another in the sequence of panels. In one implementation, the device may particularly display a graphical window that presents a panel selected from a sequence of panels, the panels in the sequence of panels each associated with a group of items and the sequence of panels having an order determined at least partially by the groups of items associated with the panels.

Abstract: A device may receive a first type of measurement associated with a vehicle and receive a second type of measurement associated with a power source connected to the vehicle. The second type of measurement may be different than the first type of measurement. The device may determine a key-on or a key-off status of the vehicle based on the first type of measurement and the second type of measurement without communicating with a vehicle diagnostic system associated with the vehicle. The key-off status may correspond to an engine of the vehicle being powered off and the key-on status may correspond to the engine of the vehicle being powered on. The device may initiate communications with the vehicle diagnostic system based on determining the key-on status.
