The means for attaching the diode and the means for electrically connecting the diode are borne by a part of this diode, called connecting part (210). Additionally, the separating surface (101) of the support delimits a light-scattering area into which the first light-emitting part (200) of the diode extends, and separates this light-scattering area from a masked area, into which connecting part (210) of the diode extends, such that said connecting part is occulted by the separating surface (101) of the support (10).

Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for performing ocular laser surgery using a patient interface having a posterior contact surface that may include surface irregularities that were generated during manufacturing of the patient interface. A beam delivery system having a focusing lens, scanning subsystem and adaptive optic (e.g. deformable mirror) is provided for guiding the surgical laser beam through the patient interface and to a desired focal spot location. An optical detector generates image data representing the posterior patient interface surface which is then processed by a computer system to identify surface irregularities by comparing the image data to a reference surface or axis. In particular, a surface irregularity can be identified as having a z-axis component; a tilt component and a surface profile component. Each irregularity component can be compensated separately by sending an adjustment signal to one of the beam delivery system components.

Abstract: A pair of glasses equipped with two lenses and intended to be worn by a user, the lenses each comprising a screen capable of transmitting or occulting, at least partially, incident light intended to pass through the lenses toward the user, the glasses being configured to, in a first occulting mode, attenuate the intensity of the incident light by simultaneously occulting the two screens, and, in a second occulting mode, enable three-dimensional vision of data emitted by a display device, via alternated occultation of the two screens.
Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a method is provided for navigating a vehicle. The method may include acquiring, using at least one image capture device, a plurality of images of an area in the vicinity of the vehicle; and determining from the plurality of images a first lane constraint on a first side of the vehicle and a second lane constraint on a second side of the vehicle opposite to the first side of the vehicle. The method may further include causing the vehicle to travel within the first and second lane constraints based on the area in the vicinity of the vehicle.

Abstract: An automated, computerized method is provided for processing an image. The method includes the steps of providing an image file depicting an image, in a computer memory, identifying a dominant region of single reflectance in the image and segregating the image into intrinsic images as a function of the dominant region of single reflectance.
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a system and method are provided for controlling postoperative shrinkage of the capsular bag, after the lens has been removed from the capsular bag. The purpose is to establish a proper optical alignment for a prosthetic Intraocular Lens (IOL). Included in the system are a laser unit for generating a laser beam, a detector for creating an image of the prosthetic IOL in the capsular bag, and a computer for evaluating the image to determine an alignment difference between the IOL axis and a defined axis of the eye. The computer is also used for guiding the laser beam to alter selected tissue in the eye, to thereby influence postoperative shrinkage of the capsular bag and minimize any potential alignment difference between the IOL axis and the defined axis of the eye during capsular bag shrinkage.
Abstract: A timing device that includes an anode layer, a cathode layer and an electrolyte attached to a base layer. The anode layer and the cathode layer are placed adjacent to one another along an axis of the timing device. Upon activation of the timing device the anode layer is depleted away from the cathode layer until the timing device is fully expired. Once the timing device is expired, a change is seen indicating that the timing device has expired. In some embodiments, a color change indicates that the timing device has expired. In some embodiments, as the timing device expires electronically readable information is uncovered.

Abstract: Contact lenses may be designed with locally thinned regions to increase oxygen transmissibility to the eye. The locally thinned regions are preferably positioned outside of the optic zone and in the thicker peripheral zone. For a contact lens formed from a specific material, creating local thinner regions, for example, dimples in the back curve surface of the lens, provides an effective and efficient means for increasing oxygen diffusion.
