Abstract: A profilometer incorporating a partial coherence interferometer directs a beam containing a band of wavelengths along object and reference arms of the interferometer into respective engagements with a test object surface and a reference object surface en route to a spectrometer for measuring a spectrum of the beam. Within the object arm, the test object surface is relatively moved through a range of positions offset from a null position at which optical path lengths of the object and reference arms are equal. Modulation frequencies of the beam spectrum are calculated at a succession of different focus spot positions across the test object surface. Changes in the modulation frequency are interpreted to distinguish between optical path length differences at which the optical path length of the object arm is longer or shorter than the optical path length of the reference arm.
Abstract: The invention deals with a light module, notably for motor vehicles, comprising a reflector with a reflecting surface , a screen arranged facing the reflector, the screen a semi-reflecting area, and a light guide extending longitudinally along the screen and the reflector. The guide comprises a diffusing output face extending transversally from the semi-reflecting area of the screen to the reflector. A portion of the rays exiting from the output face passes through the semi-transparent area, the other portion being also reflected toward the reflecting surface to form successive images with a depth effect of 3D type, without dark areas between these images.
Abstract: The invention proposes an optical monitoring device for monitoring the activity of a tool in a monitoring area, having at least one camera (1). In order to improve the capture of the lateral regions of a three-dimensional object in the monitoring area (20), at least one mirror (2) is provided that is concavely bent in at least one partial region and that is disposed in the optical path between the monitoring area (20) and the camera (1).

Abstract: Feature patterns may be incorporated into the peripheral region of the back curve surface of contact lenses in order to increase tear exchange between the contact lens and the cornea. The feature patterns may be based upon fractal geometry and be incorporated anywhere in the periphery of the lens. The placement feature patterns are preferably determined utilizing a combination of simulations and experimentation.
Abstract: Systems and methods use cameras to provide autonomous navigation features. In one implementation, a driver assist navigation system is provided for a vehicle. The system may include at least one image capture device configured to acquire a plurality of images of an area in a vicinity of the vehicle; a data interface; and at least one processing device. The at least one processing device may be configured to: receive the plurality of images via the data interface; recognize a curve to be navigated based on map data and vehicle position information, determine an initial target velocity for the vehicle based on at least one characteristic of the curve as reflected in the map data; adjust a velocity of the vehicle to the initial target velocity; determine, based on the plurality of images, one or more observed characteristics of the curve; determine an updated target velocity based on the one or more observed characteristics of the curve; and adjust the velocity of the vehicle to the updated target velocity.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products may be directed to creating an image hash. Key points can be identified at different locations within a sample image. Descriptor vectors for the key points can be identified, the descriptor vectors describing local image information around the key points, where each descriptor vector is an n-dimensional array. Key points can be generated based on hashes of data vectors that include at least one of the descriptors, where each feature is a 36×20 hash value.
Abstract: A system for providing an improved image of daytime and nighttime scene for a viewer within a vehicle is provided herein. The system includes: a pixel array sensor having a fully masked gate-off capability at a single pixel level, wherein the pixel array sensor is provided with an inherent anti-blooming capability at the single pixel level; wherein each pixel is gated by a corresponding transfer gate transistor having high transfer gate efficiency. The system further includes a gating unit configured to control the transfer gate transistors with pulsed or continuous wave modulated active and passive light sources, to yield a synchronized sensing signal from the sensor, wherein a single pulse is sufficient to cover the entire field of view of the sensor and the entire depth of field of the illuminated scene; and a processing unit configured to receive the synchronized sensing signal and process it.
Abstract: An apparatus for limiting an interphase current and a leakage current of flooded electrical installations. More specifically, provided is the apparatus, when electrical installations are flooded in water, vapor, and other liquids which have high electrical conductivity, for preventing the electrical installations from being damaged after an interphase current, between both power lines in the electrical installations, rapidly increases through the liquids with high electrical conductivity, or preventing an electric shock accident by limiting a leakage current flowing into the earth through the liquid on both power lines. To this end, the apparatus provides a phase wire portion, an insulation barrel, a barrel-shaped wire, and a housing ground.
Abstract: A method and system for enhancing image resolution using optical image translation, including: receiving multiple dissimilar low-resolution images generated by a time varying linear phase mask (LPM); receiving a direction vector for each of the multiple dissimilar low-resolution images; interleaving the received multiple dissimilar low-resolution images using the received direction vectors to form an intermediate high-resolution image; computing a likelihood of pixel motion in the intermediate high-resolution image; compensating for pixel motion in the intermediate high-resolution image; and generating a final high-resolution image.

Abstract: A power supply for a retina implant at least partly located in the interior of a patient's eye is described. The power supply comprises a first transmission coil (4, 23), a second transmission coil (5, 24). The power supply further comprises a signal generation unit adapted for generating a first high frequency signal and a second high frequency signal, and for applying the first high frequency signal to the first transmission coil and the second high frequency signal to the second transmission coil, the second high frequency signal being phase shifted relative to the first high frequency signal. The camera has an electronic sensor, a multifocal, particularly bifocal optical device, an optical lens focused in long-range field, the multifocal optical device and the optical lens being set up to be able to form a first image (IM1) on the sensor, focused in long-range field, and a second image (IM2) focused in close-range field, these first and second images extending into respective distinct regions of the sensor.
Abstract: Provided is an inflatable ring device useful for expanding the iris prior to ophthalmic surgery. The ring shape is either continuous or discontinuous and includes a groove around the outer periphery of the ring. When inflated, the groove engages the inner periphery of the iris and continued inflation thereby expands the iris to a desired size allowing increased access to the eye. The invention also provides a method of expanding the iris prior to performing ophthalmic surgery comprising placing an inflatable ring shaped device in the anterior chamber of the eye. Inflating the inflatable ring shaped device until a groove around the outer periphery of the ring shaped device engages the iris and continued inflation of the ring shaped device continues to expand the iris to a desired size.

Abstract: Methods of treating a subject after ocular surgery are disclosed. The methods include administering to an eye of a subject in need thereof a composition comprising at least one corticosteroid or an ophthalmically acceptable salt thereof in an ophthalmically acceptable vehicle that can provide a sustained release of the at least one corticosteroid or an ophthalmically acceptable salt thereof.
