Abstract: The composition disclosed is a unique formulation of Traditional Chinese-Medicine (TCM) extracts created to reduce the debilitating symptoms of allergies. It combines a number of organically grown, but, non-organically extracted, standardized formulations of natural ingredients which have been used singly for hundreds of years for symptomatic relief of allergies. These include Ginseng and Gan Cao, which provide a natural anti-inflammatory effect; Bai Gao, which prevent the smooth muscle spasms associated with allergic reactions; Suan Zao ren, which provides an antihistamine effect without the usual sedative effect; and Wu Mai, which reduces the local swelling associated with allergies. Combined, it was unexpectedly found that these ingredients provide a natural, non-drying, non-sedating alternative to antihistamines, without inhibiting the natural healing mechanisms.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for applying a coating substance to a continuous paper web in a process for producing abrasion-resistant laminates for manufacturing decorative paper. The coating substance consists of a viscous mixture of melamine resin and alphacellulose to which particles of corundum are added, and is applied to the visible surface of the paper. The inventive device includes a deflector roll (2) on which the paper web (1) lies in an area in which it loops around; a metering roll (6) which is arranged parallel to the deflector roll (2) and forms the boundary of a gap with the same, and which is driven synchronously or almost synchronously with the deflector roll; a slit nozzle (7) for applying the coating substance either directly to the paper web (1) on the deflector roll (2) or to the metering roll (6); and a doctor blade of a rectangular piece (9) of flexible rubber type material.

A lopping device is provided downstream of a conveyor segment lifting the web over the winder or sheet cutter, whichever is proximal to the cooler, the paper web then reaching a bifurcation from then which it may be directed to engagement with the mandrel in a winding readiness position of the coiler or to a conveyor segment for the transverse cutter.

Abstract: A system for treating a porous web with a liquid treatment liquid continuously moves the web along a path sequentially through a saturating station, steaming station, and drying station. A drum in the saturating station engages a back face of the web and a trough closely surrounds the drum and confronts a front face of the web. Seals form between the drum and trough a generally closed and pressurizable chamber through which the web passes and which is supplied with the treatment liquid at superatmospheric pressure so as to force the liquid against only the front face of the web. In the steaming station jets of steam are directed against the back face of the web to heat the web and disperse the treatment liquid throughout the web. The web is heated and dried in the drying station.

Abstract: A method and a system for efficiently using media stamped on a substrate include a feedroller, a shuttle, a cylinder and a control arrangement. The media has at least one registration mark. The feedroller is coupled to the media and provides the media with a first velocity component. A shuttle is coupled to the feedroller via the media and moves linearly with a variable periodic velocity. The shuttle provides the media with a second velocity component, the second velocity component being a function of the velocity of the shuttle. A cylinder has at least one die and a stamping area in which one of the at least one die urges the media against a substrate. The media and the substrate have same velocity in the stamping area during the urging, but the substrate has a greater average velocity than an average velocity of the media. A control arrangement is coupled to the feedroller, the shuttle and the cylinder. The control arrangement maintains a registration between the media and substrate.

Abstract: Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide of extreme importance as a catalyst, reductan, and reactant. It can be depleted intracellulary either by forming a direct complex with an electrophilic agent (accomplished investigationally by agents such as bromobenzene or diethyl maleate), by way of inhibition of synthesis, or by subjecting cells to oxidant stress. Most cells, except for epithelia cells, do not have a direct transport capacity for intact GSH. Non-epithelial cells must either transport precursor substrates for GSH synthesis or salvage amino acids from circulating GSH for reuse in intracellular resynthesis. Dietary cysteine is a rate limiting substrate for the synthesis of glutathione and also inhibits GSH efflux. Although GSH is synthesized from precursors in virtually all cells, the liver is the main source of plasma GSH. Protection and support of liver function is paramount to elevating GSH levels.

Abstract: A method of preparing a product for treating livestock comprising providing as ingredients molasses, water, ethyl alcohol, chelated minerals, and at least a vitamin mix. The method includes the steps of mixing the ethyl alcohol and water first, then adding each of the remaining ingredients separately to the mixture of ethyl alcohol and water. The composition is then mixed until homogeneous to provide a liquid treatment which, when introduced into livestock, will reduce considerably the length of, and amount of, lot adaptation stress.

Abstract: A paper web impregnated with a liquid resin and following impregnation is coated with an abrasive particle containing coating mass or composition and then dried before a liquid resin is applied which does not contain the abrasive particles. The web is then finally dried and the resulting paper is particularly suitable as a cover sheet in the hot pressing of laminates since it minimizes wear of the laminate press.

Abstract: A device for impregnation of webs of porous materials with a liquid impregnating medium under increased pressure comprises a roller rotatable about a horizontal axis, a trough arranged so that the roller is partially inserted in the trough to form a chamber between an inner surface of the trough and an outer surface of the roller, a unit for supplying an impregnating medium into the chamber, and a unit forming an inlet slot for introducing a web to be impregnated into the chamber and an outlet slot for withdrawing the impregnated web from the chamber. Abstract: An air-cushion nozzle for an air-treatment device has a hollow housing having an upper wall formed by a pair of end plates and a central plate. Abstract: In known pressure impregnating devices there is a chamber, which continuously narrows in the transport direction, between a cylinder around which the web to be impregnated loops, and the inner wall of a trough containing the impregnating agent. The impregnating agent is supplied to the chamber under high pressure, which is further increased in the chamber by dynamic effects. Sealing problems arise at the inlet and outlet slits as well as at the front faces because of the high pressure. Disruptions in the operation can be created by fluff coming loose from the paper web as well as by impregnating agent penetrating between the sliding faces. The new device is intended to remedy these disadvantages, and is provided with the seals have alternating narrow gaps and wide grooves in the form of a labyrinth seal.
