Abstract: An LNG tank as disclosed can include an inner shell of stainless steel and an outer shell spaced at a distance from the inner shell, the inner and outer shells defining an isolation space therebetween. A double-walled pipe of stainless steel connected to the LNG tank can include an inner pipe. The outer wall of the pipe can be connected to the inner shell by a bellows-like pipe fitting welded to the outer wall of the pipe(s) and to the inner shell of the tank. The inner pipe for extending into a tank room can be connected to a valve in a valve block, and the outer wall of the pipe extending into the tank room can be welded to the valve block to provide a continuous secondary barrier for the inner pipe between the inner shell of the tank and the valve block.

Abstract: A method of operating a power system in a marine vessel, which power system is operable with at least two operational modes, includes providing a restriction information map by assigning geographical areas with one or more predetermined operational restrictions set for the power system, comparing the location information of the vessel and the restriction information map, and in case the restriction information map includes one or more restrictions assigned to the current location, initiating an intensified supervision operation of the power system, during which data logging operation is initiated and maintained which comprises recording at predetermined interval at least current location information of the vessel, and a specification of used operational mode of the power system at the location and saving the recorded items in a memory media.

Abstract: The aim of the invention is to use a separate device between the analog and digital communications lines to convert the digital load sharing information from the digital communication line to the analog communication line and vice versa. The device does not generate power itself for the load sharing and therefore does not disturb the load sharing of the generators on the both sides of the device. The device can be seen as a gate between the digital communication line and the analog communication line. The device simulates load situation of the generator/s connected to the digital communication line for load sharing with other generator/s connected to the analog communication line, and similarly it simulates load situation of the other generator/s connected to the analog communication line for load sharing with the generator/s connected to the digital communication line.
Abstract: A connection having at least one double-walled pipe of stainless steel connected to an LNG tank is disclosed, the LNG tank having an inner shell of stainless steel and an outer shell spaced at a distance from the inner shell, the inner and outer shells defining an isolation space therebetween. The at least one double-walled pipe includes a common outer wall and at least one inner pipe. The outer wall of the pipe is connected to the inner shell of the tank in such a way that the outer wall and/or a pipe fitting of cold resistant material between the inner shell and the outer wall is arranged to compensate for changes in the length of the outer wall of the pipe and/or of the pipe fitting due to temperature differences between the outer wall of the pipe and the inner shell of the tank.
Abstract: The lubrication of a steerable thruster of a marine vessel is based on splash-type lubrication at the pod and full bath lubrication in the stembox and in the shank. The lubrication oil enters the pod both from the stembox and the shank via a constriction and directly from the oil tank. The oil is further circulated from the pod to the oil tank by means of pumps.

Abstract: A lip seal includes: a lip part (1) forming a ring shape alone or with plural members and provided in sliding contact with the entire periphery of a surface of a shaft (0); an elastic arm part (2) and a flexible wall (3) supporting the lip part (1) at a sliding contact position; key parts (4) connecting the elastic arm part (2) and the flexible wall (3) to a housing (10), respectively, and a pressure regulation chamber (A) forming a ring shape alone or with plural members and using the elastic arm part (2) and the flexible wall (3) as partition walls. The flexible wall (3) is deformed by the increase and decrease in pressure in the pressure regulation chamber (A) to change the lip part (1) at least radially.
Abstract: A propeller shaft of a marine vessel is supported by bearing means within a stern tube or frame. The stern tube or frame has an aft end provided with a sealing assembly for sealing the propeller shaft. The sealing assembly and the stern tube or frame have at least one leakage monitor line for monitoring the condition of the sealing assembly. The at least one leakage monitor line is provided with a circumferentially extending channel section.
Abstract: A pipe connector comprising a connector body, a first fitting connectable to a first double wall pipe, the first fitting comprising a first portion connectable to an inner flow space and a second portion connectable to an outer flow space of the first double wall pipe, a second fitting connectable to a second pipe, a third fitting comprising a first portion and a second portion, which first portion is connectable to the third pipe, and a flow channel arranged in the connector body for interconnecting the first portion of the first fitting, the second fitting and the first portion of the third fitting.
Abstract: A method for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers, in particular two cargoes of different LPG types on same shipment, having reliquefaction units in which vaporized gases are condensed and then returned into at least one cargo tank for the respective LPG cargo type. The method is further comprising: using the reliquefaction units, at a minimum one running, as to condense vapour from the first cargo type; passing the condensed vapour through a heat exchanger; simultaneously flowing vapour from the second cargo type through the heat exchanger as to condense vapour by means of heat exchanging with the condensed vapour; and returning the condensed vapours leaving the heat exchanger back into the respective cargo types. The present invention is also disclosing a system for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers.

Abstract: A closing cover for closing an opening in a hull of a marine vessel, includes a first part and a second part. The second part has a cylindrical periphery wall and a water tight inner section bordered by the periphery wall and the first part has a flange plate portion extending radially over the periphery wall of the second part, in which the first part and the second part are removably attached to each other. The second part is provided with a sealing system and attaching pins at its outer cylindrical surface.
Abstract: A novel fuel injection unit for a large internal combustion engine includes a common rail fuel system. The fuel injection unit of the invention is constructed of at least a high pressure fuel accumulator specific for the fuel injection unit, a flow fuse, a first fuel injection valve with a control valve, and a second fuel injection valve with a control valve. The first fuel injection valve is a smaller one used for injecting at most 30% of the fuel required in full load operation of a diesel mode.
