Abstract: A unitized curtain wall system includes pre-assembled, pre-glazed aluminum framed curtain wall units. Vertical mullion components and top and bottom horizontal rail components interconnect adjacent curtain wall panels. The curtain wall units are suspended from one or more upper anchors installed on an upper floor slab. The bottom horizontal rail components are engaged with top horizontal rail components of adjacent, lower curtain wall units forming a continuous beam scheme for vertical mullion components and configured to accept lateral loads. The gravity loads of curtain wall units are supported by one or more floor anchors. Organic shaped insulating forms are disposed laterally between top and bottom horizontal rail components of adjacent curtain wall panels. The forms are compressible to permit flexing vertical movement of the curtain wall units while reducing air movement in a horizontal cavity formed between the top and bottom horizontal rail components forming a stack joint.

Abstract: A panel is disclosed for use in construction. The panel comprises opposing surfaces that extend between first and second opposite ends. The panel also comprises a plurality of parallel (e.g. sawtooth) ridges. The ridges are provided on at least one of the opposing surfaces. The ridges extend along and adjacent to a first of the opposite ends of the panel for at least a part length thereof. The ridges are arranged to engage with and move past corresponding ridges of an adjacent panel when the panels move relative to each other in opposite directions. The ridges are further arranged so as to interfere with the ridges of the adjacent panel to resist relative movement in a reverse of the opposite direction.

Abstract: Girts, systems incorporating girts, and methods of using girts are disclosed. In some embodiments, the girts are formed via an efficient metal stamping and folding process. The girts have a high mechanical strength, are easily manufactured, allow for water drainage and air circulation, improve thermal performance, decrease sound transmission, and reduce material, transportation and labor costs relative to traditional girts.
Abstract: Termination girts, systems incorporating termination girts, and methods of using termination girts are disclosed. The termination girts are configured to abut adjacent building systems such as windows, doors, interconnected walls and the like with a clearance close to zero, which allows exterior cladding on a structure to be hung in a seamless, smooth design without added gaps or reveals. In some embodiments, the termination girts are used, either with other types of girts or exclusively, to produce a continuous horizontal or vertical rail system on the exterior of a structure to support cladding covering the structure and, optionally, insulation mounted on the exterior of the structure. The termination girts have a high mechanical strength, are easily manufactured, allow for water drainage and air circulation, can be mounted in both horizontal and vertical orientations, and are especially useful near the intersection of perpendicular surfaces.
Abstract: A device for switching in and out a start winding of a single phase AC motor using an energizer winding to generate voltage which can be used to power a simple timing switch circuit. The AC voltage is rectified and converted to DC voltage. The DC voltage is then used to drive a normally closed solid state switch to an open state which in turn inactivates a triac connected to the start winding in the motor. The “on time” of the start winding is controlled by a RC circuit that ramps the voltage to the gate of a FET that drives current through the normally closed solid state switch.
