  • Patent number: 4459725
Abstract: For the attachment of a ballistic hood at a projectile body prior art constructions of projectiles provided a groove in the projectile body. The employment of such groove in the projectile body is undesired for armor-piercing projectiles. By adhesively bonding the ballistic hood to the projectile body there can be avoided the use of such groove. Through the provision of ribs at the inner surface of the ballistic hood which contacts the projectile body there is afforded an exact alignment and centering of the ballistic hood upon the projectile body.

  • Patent number: 4455939
Abstract: An impact fuze with a time-delay between the impact of a flying object, such as a rocket or projectile at the target and the detonation thereof renders possible the penetration of the rocket or projectile into the target before the detonation. The flight velocity or speed of a projectile decreases with increasing flying time. In order to ensure for a penetration depth which nevertheless is sufficient, the impact time-delay must increase with decreasing flight velocity of the rocket or projectile. For this purpose, a time-delay counter is set by means of a self-destruction counter as a function of the flight velocity.

  • Patent number: 4421006
Abstract: A manual cocking device or charger contains an entrainment element operatively connected to a weapon breechblock and movable by means of a tensioning or cocking chain. A sprocket wheel engages with the cocking or tensioning chain and is driven by means of a handcrank which can be fitted onto a drive shaft. For avoiding a premature advance of the breechblock and eliminating the danger of injury to the gun operator by the handcrank, a locking wheel is rigidly mounted for rotation upon the drive shaft. This locking wheel is arrested by means of a locking pin or bolt in a rotational sense which is opposite to the drive rotational direction. The handcrank is axially aligned upon the drive shaft by means of a safety bolt. By means of a common holder or support the locking bolt and the safety bolt can be simultaneously disengaged upon termination of the cocking operation.

  • Patent number: 4413565
Abstract: Firing of a tubular-shaped projectile body containing a sharp-edged annular end surface previously created difficulties, because firing the end surface of the tubular-shaped projectile body was damaged by the sabot base portion by virtue of the large acceleration forces. This difficulty is avoided in that the invention contemplates incorporating an at least bipartite ring-shaped wedge member between a cone-shaped portion of the sabot base portion and a cone-shaped rear wall of the tubular-shaped projectile body.
