Abstract: An image data decoding device includes a determination unit, a first pixel value generating unit, and a second pixel value generating unit. The determination unit receives compressed image data including information of one DC component, information of frequency components and a block end code for each block of an image as a result of frequency analysis and determines whether the block consists of the DC component and the block end code. The first pixel value generating unit performs inverse operation to the frequency analysis to generate pixel values of the block when the block is determined as not consisting of the DC component and the block end code. The second pixel value generating unit generates one and the same pixel value for all pixels of each block based on information of the DC component when the block is determined as consisting of the DC component and block end code.
Abstract: A method of using a phase change ink imaging device includes receiving an nth ink stick in an ink loader of a phase change ink imaging device where n is a predetermined number. The nth ink stick includes at least one sensor contour formed thereon. The at least one sensor contour is associated with an ink stick identifier. The at least one sensor contour on the nth ink stick is detected using a sensor system in the ink loader. At least one signal is generated based on the detection of the at least one sensor contour, the at least one signal being indicative of the ink stick identifier. The ink stick identifier indicated by the at least one signal is then stored as a designated ink stick identifier for use with the phase change ink imaging device.

Abstract: A system and method for user authentication include a user instructing component and a voice authentication component. The user instructing component generates an instruction for authenticating a voice of a user. The instruction includes a first instruction to recite one or more non-language words. The voice authentication component analyzes a sound signal which includes a response to the instruction. The voice authentication component can authenticate the voice of the user using the response to the instruction including a response to the first instruction to recite the one or more non-language words.
Abstract: An apparatus (100) and method (200) that detaches media from a fuser in a printer is disclosed. The method can include feeding (220) a media sheet through a fuser member and applying (230) gas from an air knife to the media sheet on the fuser member to detach the media sheet at a detach point from the fuser member. The method can also include asserting (240) tension on the media sheet using a set of rotational members and continuing to apply gas from the air knife to the media sheet until the set of rotational members asserts tension on the media sheet.

Abstract: A method of making toner particles, includes: mixing a latex emulsion, a colorant emulsion, an optional was emulsion, and optional additives in a first reactor to form a slurry; discharging the slurry from the first reactor to a second reactor through a homogenizer; heating the slurry in the second reactor to form aggregated particles in said slurry; discharging the aggregated particles and slurry from the second reactor to a third reactor; heating the aggregated particles and slurry in the third reactor to coalesce the aggregated particles into toner particles; discharging the toner particles and slurry from the third reactor to a fourth reactor; cooling the toner particles; optionally classifying said toner particles to remove coarse particles; and optionally washing and drying said toner particles, wherein the first reactor, second reactor, third reactor, and fourth reactor are at least two different reactors.
