Abstract: A system and a method of processing faxes are disclosed. The method includes receiving page(s) to be transmitted by a first fax device coupled to a fax transmission network. An address of a recipient is encoded in a field of a fax transmission. The fax transmission, including the page(s) and the encoded recipient address, is transmitted to a second fax device. The received page(s) of the fax are stored at the second fax device and a passcode is generated. The fax is not released for printing until the passcode is submitted to the second fax device.

Abstract: An image processing device includes a generator. By using compressed image data which is obtained by compressing image data that have been obtained by reading a document with a reading unit, and combinational data, which represent an image or text to be combined with an image represented by the image data, the generator generates a single file by combining the compressed image data and the combinational data without decompressing the compressed image data, so that the compressed image data and the combinational data are held in separate layers.

  • Publication number: 20110293299
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a latent image forming unit forming a latent image; a transfer body on which a reference index for setting an output start time point of image data is formed; a detecting unit facing the reference index and outputting a detection signal changing in accordance with passing of the reference index; a measuring unit measuring change duration time; and a controller controlling the output start time point with the detection signal. The controller starts a first period during which change of the detection signal is ignored, according to first change of the detection signal, starts a second period after the first period, regards change of the detection signal occurring first in the second period as a reference of the output start time point if the change duration time is longer than a predetermined period, and ignores change of the detection signal after the change occurring first.

  • Publication number: 20110292456
Abstract: A system and a method of processing faxes are disclosed. The method includes receiving image data that includes a plurality of pages to be transmitted by a first fax device coupled to a fax transmission network. Page number information is encoded in a field of a fax transmission. The fax transmission, including the image data and encoded page number information, is transmitted to a second fax device coupled to the fax transmission network. Whether all pages of the fax transmission are received is determined, based on the transmitted page number information. When fewer than all pages of the fax transmission are received, the received pages of the image data are withheld at the second fax device. When all pages have been received, the pages are concatenated for printing without interruption.

  • Publication number: 20110291354
Abstract: This is a media transport system that can accommodate various size media or sheets. The system has a series of even sized bins that can accommodate both small and large sheets. Above the bins is located a sheet diverter that when lowered diverts the small sheets into a small portion of the even sized bin. When the sheet diverter is raised, it permits the large sheets to be unblocked by it and fall into the largest portion of the even sized bin. When the large sheets are housed in the bin, they are supported on a short pusher which is located between two large pushers. Both the small and large sheets are in substantial collated alignment when housed in the bins.

  • Publication number: 20110292477
Abstract: A system and method of scanner characterization is provided which establishes an accurate relationship between a scanner's device-dependent (scanner) color space and a device-independent colorimetric space. A hierarchical subdivision of device-dependent color space into sub-regions is performed. The sub-regions are defined by cutting planes dividing patch color values in device-dependent color space perpendicular to principal axes. A color transformation matrix is then generated establishing the relationship between the scanner device-dependent color space and the device-independent color space for each sub-region of device-dependent color space using the patch color values and a weighting function for each matrix. Each weighting function gives a weight to each patch color value which is a function of the location of the patch color value with respect to the cutting planes defining the sub-region containing the patch color value.

  • Publication number: 20110292453
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate sorting used printed sheets of paper or other media, identifying reusable pages (i.e., pages without print on one or both sides), and outputting the reusable pages for reuse. If print is detected on one side of a used page, a security or interference pattern, or a blackout pattern, is printed over the detected print (e.g., text or the like) to conceal or obscure the print to render it illegible. In this manner, potentially sensitive or confidential information is concealed, and the reusable pages are output for use in a user-selected application (e.g., label printing, etc.) while ensuring that confidential information is obscured.
