Abstract: Color management constraints on the use of selected hypocolorant(s) and a black colorant in the rendering of a given pixel reduce ink or toner usage and/or reduce pressure on an ink limit. Additionally, the enforcement of this mutual exclusivity between the black and the selected hypocolorant(s) allows screen frequencies and angles to be shared between halftone screens used for the black colorant and a selected hypocolorant. This reduces the likelihood of objectionable moiré associated with the use of hypocolorant colorants in addition to the conventional CMY(K) colorants. In some embodiments, color management constraints prevent the use of black colorant for pixels beyond a threshold lightness or luminance. This constraint allows the use of the selected hypocolorants in the region of color space beyond the threshold. The threshold can be a function of hue and/or chroma. In some embodiments the threshold is a constant.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a first enhancement degree calculation unit and a color contour enhancement unit. The first enhancement degree calculation unit calculates a contour intensity of a color component of an input color image and calculates an enhancement degree for a color contour, based on the contour intensity of the color component. The color contour enhancement unit performs an enhance process for a lightness component of the color image in accordance with the enhancement degree for the color contour calculated by the first enhancement degree calculation unit.

Abstract: There is provided a document management server including a receiving unit that receives an access request and a first ID representing a document to be an object of the access request, an ID processing unit that issues, when an operation is performed on the document in response to the access request, a second ID corresponding to the operation, and records a derivation relationship having the second ID as a child of the first ID, an attribute recording unit that records attribute information relating to the operation by association with the first ID or the second ID, and a response data provider unit that provides, when the document is provided to the client in response to the access request, response data including attribute information associated with at least one ID appearing in a path from the received ID accompanying the access request to a root of a derivation relationship.
Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, there are provided systems for conveying a sheet article into an intended pathway. The multi-way gate system for diverting sheets into multiple pathways in a sheet conveying device includes at least three pathways for directing the sheet from the sheet conveying member in a particular direction. A single gate plate is between the sheet conveying member and the pathways. The single gate plate is rotatable about a single axis to direct the sheet exiting the sheet conveying member toward one of the pathways.
Abstract: A coated-core cleaner blade has a core comprising a first material and a coating surrounding the core. The coating comprises a second material that is different than the first material. Further, the core (first material) is rigid compared to the coating (second material). Therefore, the first material has a first flexibility that is much less than a second flexibility of the second material.

Abstract: To reduce the load on a management server in a load distributed system, a server list manager 16 of a management server 10 selects servers 4, 6, 20, and 30 to be accessed by a client terminal management server 43 by referencing an operation status or a load status of the servers 4, 6, 20, and 30, generates a server list, and sends the generated server list to the client terminal management server 43. An inquiry unit 47 of the client terminal management server 43 regularly sends an inquiry to the network monitoring server 30, which is included in the server list 45, to ascertain whether or not information has been updated. If the information has been updated, an information collection unit 48 acquires a corresponding latest module and a rule base from the information providing server 20 included in the server list 45 based on information from the network monitoring server 30.
Abstract: This disclosure provides a printing method and system including two or more integrated image marking engines, wherein the printing system is operated with less than the total number of image marking engines to generate the maximum specified prints per minute associated with the printing system. According to one exemplary embodiment, each image marking engine is controlled to be inactive in a round-robin manner to maintain substantially equal running time on each image marking engine or a substantially equal number of printed sheets on each marking engine.

Abstract: A device, such as a printer or copier, identifies the type of module being used. If the type of module requires the device to receive an unlock code, the device prompts for the unlock code (which can be a hash of the serial number of the device). Once the unlock code is received, the device can be used with modules of that type. If the unlock code is not received, the device does not operate with modules of that type.

Abstract: A method and system to sense an amount of material such as toner in a container held in a horizontal position within a machine, such as a printing machine. A level sensor senses an amount of material within a dispensing unit which causes the level sensor to issue a signal. The dispensing unit is external to the container. The container holding the material is rotated, and a rotation direction reversed to a direction normally used to dispense the material. The reverse rotation direction moves the material to a closed end of the container. The container is then moved in a forward direction following the rotation of the container in the reverse direction. The forward rotation moves the material to the open end of the container, and the material further moves into the dispensing unit. A signal is generated when a sufficient amount of material has been moved into the dispensing unit.
Abstract: A de-warp map is generated by applying principal component analysis (PCA) to vectors describing aspects of identified features of an object in an image. PCA provides vectors and coefficients describing curvature or image warping at selected points in the image. Estimates of the warping of the image generally are generated by interpolation and/or extrapolation from the vectors and coefficients provided by PCA. In some applications only two features need be identified. For example, the complicated curvature of the facing pages of an open book can be characterized by two vectors describing positions of top and bottom edges of the book. In such applications PCA can reduce to vector subtraction to determine a basis vector, vector addition and scaling to determine an average vector and simple assignment of known coefficient values. The de-warping map can be used to generate a de-warped version of the image.
