Abstract: A method and graphical user interface for selecting pad printing functions for an image output device. The user interface is provided to a user and displays a pad printing dialog box that enables selection of pad printing output. Selectable pad printing options are displayed, which include the number of sheets per pad and the total number of pads to be output. When the user selection of pad printing and pad printing options are received, the total quantity of sheets to be output based on selected pad printing options and organizing the sheets for pad printing output from the image output device are automatically determined. Availability of pad printing is determined based on finishing options selected.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method that receives a previously created variable data print file. The method iterates through pages of the variable data print file to identify reused objects and decomposes the variable data print file into a decomposed document template, comprising the reused objects, and into a decomposed (factored) variable data file, comprising objects other than the reused objects. In some embodiments the method can further decompose the reused object into image and graphic objects, and into non-image and non-graphic objects. This allows the image and graphic objects, the non-image and non-graphic objects, and/or the decomposed variable data file to be edited without needing to go back to the application that-originally generated the variable print data file.

Abstract: A media transport that will fit between a xerographic transfer station and a fuser station is provided by this invention. The purpose of this media transport is to increase the distance that media with an unfused image will travel from transfer to fusing stations thus permitting longer media to be used in the xerographic system without the risk of disturbing the unfused image. A vacuum is positioned internally of the transport that will provide a vacuum force to hold a media sheet to belts that are guided by the top surface of the media transport. The media transport has a configuration with an arced top surface where the arc length of the top surface exceeds the overall width of the transport.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for cleaning a print media sheet and, more particularly, for cleaning a specific portion of sheet that is less than the entire length of the sheet. A device moves a cleaning roller between standby, cleaning fluid receiving and cleaning positions. Timing of cleaning roller movement into the cleaning position is controlled to ensure proper positioning of the cleaning roller with respect to the sheet during cleaning. In the cleaning position, the cleaning roller rotates so as to clean only the specific portion. In the cleaning fluid receiving position, the cleaning roller rotates to receive, from a cleaning fluid dispenser, a predetermined amount of cleaning fluid. Optionally, a retractable shutter can be selectively retracted to expose an opening in a sheet transport path guard and, thereby allow the cleaning roller to move into the cleaning position.

Abstract: A method and apparatus transfer a material from first roller within a container to at least one second roller, and transfer the material from the second roller to at least one third roller. The second roller and the third roller form a loading nip at a location where the second roller is closest to the third roller. The method and apparatus transfer the material from the third roller to at least one recipient device, and measure current flow between the second roller and the third roller using a measurement device. Then, the method alters the relative rotation rate difference between the first roller and the second roller based on the current flow to maintain a predetermined density of the material at the loading nip using a controller.

Abstract: A printer operating method enables a controller to identify process direction errors in an optical imaging system. The method includes identifying a printhead roll error for each printhead in a plurality of printheads in a printer, moving each printhead by an amount that corrects the printhead roll error for the corresponding printhead, generating a plurality of dashes on media with the plurality of printheads as the media moves past the plurality of printheads, identifying a position for each dash in the process direction from image data of the plurality of dashes on the media, identifying a displacement in the process direction for each optical detector in a linear array of optical detectors used to generated the image data of the plurality of dashes, the displacement being identified with reference to the identified positions for the dashes, and operating the printer to compensate for the identified displacements of the optical detectors.
