Abstract: An intelligent on-board monitoring system for replaceable module for a printing apparatus includes a memory element, an input for receiving information either from sensors on the replaceable module, or from the printing apparatus concerning printing operations performed, and a microprocessor connected to the memory for performing calculations upon data stored in the memory and upon the input information. By expanding this intelligent on-board monitoring system with expanded memory, either on board the replaceable module, or by way of network access, the capability to enable software upgrades is provided. The software upgrades may relate to the performance of the replaceable module or to the machine into which it is installed. These software upgrades may be accomplished without requiring computational resources of the printing apparatus itself and by proper scheduling without impacting customer machine utilization.
Abstract: The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to an imaging member having an outermost layer formulation that includes wax particles which creates a rough surface morphology for the layer and imparts increased scratch resistance, reduced torque, and improved cleaning performance to the layer. In embodiments, the outermost layer is an overcoat layer used for an improved imaging member having a substrate, a charge transport layer, and an overcoat positioned on the charge transport layer.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate encrypting document status information into a scanned image of a document using a mixed raster content document parsing protocol, in accordance with various features described herein. A text string comprising status information can be imaged into a mask layer that overlays the scanned image. Additionally or alternatively, the text string can be encrypted into a binary image that is encoded into the mask layer and overlaid on the image. The image itself is parsed into a background layer and one or more mask layers comprising different portions of the document. The encrypted mask layer comprising the text string and/or binary image can be generated using the same color as the background layer, such that the document status information is invisible and does not cause unwanted artifacts during printing or conversion of the document between formats.

Abstract: A laminated body comprises: a particle dispersion layer comprising a first material and particles dispersed in the first material, the first material being changed from a gel state to a sol state upon increase in temperature; and a coated layer comprising a second material, the second material is changed from a gel state to a sol state upon increase in temperature, is changed from a gel state to a sol state upon decrease in temperature, and shows a hysteresis behavior in sol-gel change upon change in temperature, wherein the particle dispersion layer in a sol state and the coated layer in a gel state are laminated in contact with each other, and in a state where each of the particle dispersion layer and the coated layer contains a solvent, a maximum temperature T1 where the first material maintains a gel state is less than a maximum temperature T2 where the second material maintains a gel state upon increase in temperature (T1<T2).
Abstract: An image processing system includes an identification unit, a region division unit and a pixel value change unit. The identification unit identifies a second pixel among an image including a first pixel and the second pixel. A pixel value of the first pixel is not to be changed. A pixel value of the second pixel is to be changed. The region division unit divides the image into regions. The pixel value change unit changes the value of the second pixel to a predetermined value through a filtering process when the second pixel identified by the identification unit is included within the regions obtained by the region division unit.
Abstract: An intermediate transfer member that includes a core shell component where the core is, for example, a polyaniline, and the shell is a polyhedral silsesquioxane.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a toner process comprising providing a resin miniemulsion comprising polymeric particles comprising at least one free radical polymerizable monomer compound and at least one alkylene anhydride; blending the miniemulsion with at least one colorant, at least one amine, and optionally at least one wax; heating the resulting mixture below or about equal to the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the resin emulsion; and heating the resulting mixture above or about equal to the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the resin emulsion.

Abstract: A method of characterizing a word image includes traversing the word image stepwise with a window to provide a plurality of window images. For each of the plurality of window images, the method includes splitting the window image to provide a plurality of cells. A feature, such as a gradient direction histogram, is extracted from each of the plurality of cells. The word image can then be characterized based on the features extracted from the plurality of window images.
