Abstract: An electrostatic marking system has a cleaning station and a cleaning blade wherein the cleaning blade is adjustable depending upon data of cleaning station temperature, humidity, and a contaminant film on a photoreceptor P/R surface. A sensor or sensors measures this data including the thickness of the film together with temperature and humidity in the cleaning station. This data is conveyed by the sensors to a controller which has software equating this data with an angle at which the cleaning blade contacts the P/R surface. This angle is calculated to give maximum cleaning of the P/R surface with minimum abrading of this P/R surface.

Abstract: Methods for controlling a document service request involve defining a document service request workflow and redirecting document service requests from the mobile device. In one embodiment, through a short-range connection with a document processing device on a foreign network, a mobile device establishes a secure connection to the mobile device's native network to identify a document stored on a file server operating thereon. Once a document is identified, the mobile device over the secure connection initiates a document service request by requesting an output server operating on the native network to retrieve and convert the identified document into an output-ready format suitable for the document processing device. Upon receipt of the output-ready document, the mobile device resends the output-ready document over a local connection to the document processing device to carry out the document service request.

Abstract: A method for controlling a printer in a networked environment utilizes printer usage statistics and document features to determine whether to print a document or portion of a document. The networked environment includes printers, devices permitting the submittal of print job requests, a print server, and a document repository. The method includes receiving a job request to print a document from a device on the network and obtaining the document in digital form from the document repository or placing the document in digital form. Document and page specific information are extracted from the document. It is then determined whether printing of the document or a portion of the document is necessary based on analysis of the document and page specific information.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments provide a direct imaging system and methods for direct marking an image using the system. The disclosed direct imaging system can eliminate the creation of a latent image and can be used in an electrophotographic machine and related processes. Specifically, the direct imaging system can include a direct marking substrate (e.g., a printing substrate) and a development belt member closely spaced from the direct marking substrate. In one embodiment, the development belt member can include a plurality of actuator cells with each actuator cell controllably addressable to eject one or more toner particles adhered thereto. The ejected toner particles can transit the space between the donor belt member and the direct marking substrate, and directly marking onto the direct marking substrate forming an image.

Abstract: Systems and methods of a pay-for-use pricing plan for consumables associated with a machine. The systems and methods include a machine that can detect a use of a consumable by a consumer. The use can be an installation of the consumable in the machine or an actual use of the consumable in the machine. The machine can detect a charge associated with the use of the consumable. Further, the machine can prompt the consumer for a payment and receive the payment from the consumer. In embodiments, the consumer can have an updatable account associated with the consumable usage. The machine can send an indication of the payment or updated account information to a supplier of the consumable.
Abstract: Embodiments pertain to a novel imaging member, namely, an imaging member or photoreceptor comprising a removable protective outer layer which comprises light-absorbing material which substantially prevents any light absorption by the overcoat layer. Thus, the light-absorbing material reduces the intrinsic light shock suffered by conventional overcoat layers without negatively impacting electrical properties of the overcoat layer while improving print quality.

Abstract: Electronic devices, such as organic thin film transistors, with improved mobility are disclosed. The semiconducting layer comprises layers or striations of an organic semiconductor and graphene, including alternating layers/striations of such materials. The organic semiconductor and graphene layers interact well together because both materials form lamellar sheets. The presence of graphene enhances mobility by correcting molecular packing defects in the organic semiconductor layers, and the conductivity of graphene can be controlled. Finally, both materials are flexible, allowing for flexible semiconductor layers and transistors.

Abstract: A method for detecting edge pixels in an image plane based on intensity and neutrality of a current pixel is provided. The method includes detecting the edge pixels in the image plane based on predetermined criteria. The predetermined criteria determining whether: (a) a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the specified characteristic is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold; and (b) (i) a difference between a current value and the minimum value of the specified characteristic, or (ii) a difference between a current value and the maximum value of the specified characteristic is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold. The predetermined thresholds are determined based on intensity and neutrality of the current pixel.
Abstract: Systems and methods of replacing digital assets within a multimedia document are provided. The systems and methods include a user workstation that can receive a selection from a user for an original asset in the document to be replaced. Alternative assets can be retrieved that have a level of appropriateness with the selected original asset. Constraints on use of the alternative assets can be determined and a fitness value of each of the alternative assets can be calculated based on the appropriateness and the constraints on use. The alternative assets with the highest fitness values can be presented to the user for the user to select to replace the original asset.

Abstract: Methods of adding substituents to a benzodithiophene are disclosed. A benzodithiophene is reacted with a reagent to directly add the substituent to the benzene core of the benzodithiophene. This method eliminates steps from prior process and eliminates the need for hydrogenation, allowing for a safer and more scaleable process. The resulting benzodithiophenes are suitable for use in semiconductor polymers and have no loss of performance.
