Abstract: Systems and methods for positioning a sheet in a feed path including at least one sheet drive roller driven in a rotational direction by a drive shaft in which the drive shaft translates in a lengthwise direction along the axis of the drive shaft. A power shaft rotates about the same axis as the drive shaft and is driven by a power source that is fixedly mounted in the system. The power shaft is fixed to the drive shaft by a flexible coupling that allows the drive shaft and the power shaft to move relative to one another in the lengthwise direction along the axis while maintaining corresponding rotational motion between the power shaft and the drive shaft.

Abstract: A system for recording an image as digital data comprises a photosensor array and a plenoptic set, including a main lens and a lenticular grating, to enable the photosensor array to obtain plenoptic image data from the sheet. A subset of the plenoptic image data is selected, such as according to a predetermined object distance, to obtain image data for a focused image. The subset of the plenoptic image can be selected after the scanning, so that prescanning of an unusual-shaped image-bearing object, such as an open book, is avoided.

Abstract: To determine spectra, integrated multiple illuminant measurements from a non-fully illuminant populated color sensor may be converted into a fully populated spectral curve using a reference database. The reference database is partitioned into a plurality of clusters, and an appropriate centroid is determined for each cluster by, for example, vector quantization. Training samples that form the reference database may be assigned to the clusters by comparing the Euclidean distance between the centroids and the sample under consideration, and assigning each sample to the cluster having the centroid with the shortest Euclidean distance. When all training samples have been assigned, the resulting structure is stored as the reference database. When reconstructing the spectra for new measurements from the sensor, the Euclidean distances between actual color samples under measurement and each cluster centroid are measured.

Abstract: Disclosed are semiconducting polythiophenes comprising a repeating unit of Formula (A) or a copolythiophene of Formula (B): wherein A and B are each alkyl having from 1 to about 25 carbon atoms; and a, b, c, d, e, f, g, x, and y are as defined herein. These polythiophenes have high mobility and are soluble in common organic solvents, so that chlorinated solvents do not need to be used. They are useful for depositing semiconducting layers, particularly in organic thin-film transistors.
Abstract: An ink used preferably in jet ink devices includes an ink vehicle, the ink vehicle being made up either (a) a first component curable by a first polymerization route and an associated photointiator, and a second component curable by a second polymerization route and as associated photoinitiator, wherein the second polymerization route is different from the first polymerization route, or (b) a component curable by a single polymerization route with a first and a second photoinitiator system in which the first system responds to longer wavelengths. An image may be formed by such inks by jetting onto a transfer member surface, curing the first component or partially curing the single component while upon the transfer member surface, transferring the ink to an image receiving surface, and completing curing. The first component is preferably curable via cationic polymerization and the second component is preferably curable via free radical polymerization.
Abstract: A kit used in TC measurement in the field includes a sandwich of 3 screens used for filtration of carrier beads from toner particles within a container. An upper 400 mesh screen has die-cut holes around its edges to allow removal of any beads trapped between the upper screen and a middle 500 mesh screen. A bottom screen of coarse 20 mesh material is used for strength to support the other screens. When a vacuum source connected to a bottom portion of the container is turned ON, the carrier beads approach the screens in the center of the container. The recirculating airflow carries the carrier beads away from the upper screen at the edges. Thus, with the upper screen being die-cut with openings around its edges, these openings allow the trapped beads to return to the inner chamber of the container for removal during cleaning.
Abstract: An image forming agent storage device includes an image forming agent storage body that is inserted into an insertion part, an opening-and-closing member, an engagement mechanism and an engagement release prevention mechanism. The image forming agent storage body is formed with a discharge port. The engagement mechanism includes an engagement part being provided in the image forming agent storage body and an engaged part being provided in the opening-and-closing member and being capable of engaging with the engagement part. The engagement release prevention mechanism prevents that a state where the engagement part and the engaged part can engage with each other is released due to an event that a front side of the opening-and-closing member moves relative to the image forming agent storage body so as to slant in a direction away from a position where the engagement part and the engaged part are provided.
Abstract: A printing system is provided comprising a plurality of resources including idle and non-idle resources having a plurality of image marking engines and a user interface for inputting user determinable priority criteria for a first print job. All of the non-idle resources are assigned to the first print job when the first print job is the only print job; and, a resource fraction of the non-idle resources is assigned to the first print job when there is at least a second print job.
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate improving error estimation for calibration error due to clipping of pixels, and compensation therefor, during calibration of a scanner or printer. Calibration patches are measured at a first maximum pixel value threshold and at a slightly lower threshold value. Pixel values for the patches at each threshold are averaged, and a linear model is constructed, which is employed to predict error due to pixel clipping. The error is then compensated for when calibrating the scanner or printer.
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining print capacity are disclosed. A maximum job speed for a document processing device and information pertaining to a plurality of jobs performed by the document processing device may be received. The information may include a job speed and a job size for each job. Sets of first and second jobs may be identified from the plurality of jobs. Each first job may have a job speed greater than a percentage of the maximum job speed. Each second job may have a job speed less than the percentage of the maximum job speed. A job size threshold may be determined based on the job sizes for the first and second jobs. In response to such determination, a linear function based on the one or more second jobs may be obtained. The linear function may be a function of job speed based on job size.
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of an interface structure and a method for automated data mining of a legacy system. A GUI is employed to navigate through the legacy system interface application and access a data field. Once the data field is displayed, the GUI can receive a tag from the user labeling the data field. Additionally, a screen tracing device can trace the sequence of events that ultimately results in the data field being displayed. The traced sequence and its corresponding tag are then stored in a data storage device. These processes can be repeated for multiple different data fields. Subsequently, a sequence applying device can retrieve one or more previously stored sequences in response to a request referencing the corresponding tag(s) and can apply the sequence(s) in order to access, for processing, data from the corresponding data field(s).
Abstract: A system and method for enabling automated task preemption, including a plurality of multifunctional devices having a plurality of functional capabilities; and a processing module configured to: (i) separate the tasks requiring the plurality of functional capabilities into the tasks requiring a first category of capabilities and the tasks requiring a second category of capabilities, where the tasks requiring the first category of capabilities has a higher processing priority than the tasks requiring the second category of capabilities; and (ii) selectively process the tasks requiring the first category of capabilities before the tasks requiring the second category of capabilities regardless of arrival times of the tasks requiring the plurality of capabilities; wherein the tasks requiring the second category of capabilities that are preempted by the tasks requiring the first category of capabilities are rescheduled to be completed within a predetermined time period of completion.

Abstract: An image processing device includes an acceptance unit which accepts an input of print data; a decision unit which decides whether or not a draw instruction for a two-color image consisting of a background color and a foreground color is contained in the print data accepted by the acceptance unit; and a conversion unit which converts to draw a graphic representing a part of the foreground color in the two-color image for an image drawn area, instead of a draw process in pixel units concerning the two-color image, when the decision unit decides that the draw instruction for the two-color image is contained in the print data.
