Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of a color management system and an associated method that display a visual representation of a digital version of a document and further annotate selected object(s) in the visual representation with corresponding statement(s) containing a natural language description of any color differences between the selected object and the same object in a different digital version of the same document. For example, a visual representation of the print-preview version of a document can be displayed and a selected object within the visual representation can be annotated with a statement containing a natural language description of any color differences between the selected object and the same object in the selected-for-print-preview version of the document. By annotating selected object(s) on the display in this manner, the embodiments provide an accurate indication of color variations between the two versions even in a non-calibrated and/or non-optimal viewing environment.

  • Publication number: 20100290089
Abstract: An image processing system utilizes an image type classification circuit to identify inputted image data as picture image data or text/graphics image data. A halftone circuit, operatively connected to the image type classification circuit, converts the inputted image data, identified as picture image data, to halftone image data. Moreover, a tile pattern circuit, operatively connected to the image type classification circuit, to replace the inputted image data, identified as text/graphics image data, with tile patterns. Non-halftone cluster areas in the tile patterns are encoded with a predetermined pattern. A bitmap rendering circuit combines the halftone image data with the encoded tile patterns to render a bitmap, wherein the bitmap can be used by a print engine to reproduce the image.

  • Patent number: 7835036
Abstract: Identifying the substrate type of a target substrate before patterning by a marking engine produces an opportunity to adjust the marking engine. The adjustments can enable the marking engine to produce higher quality work. The target substrate's substrate type can be automatically identified by obtaining its characteristics and submitting them to a classifier. A spectrophotometer can measure a substrates reflectance spectrum, which is a good characteristic for use in classifying. Classifiers can be based on known distance or correlation measures.

  • Patent number: 7835044
Abstract: A system and method for tetrahedral interpolation computations using data-level parallelism that takes advantage of data-level parallelism in media processors. If the tetrahedron points in a 3D lookup table are packed together in a memory, the interpolation computation can be implemented without extra instructions to unpack them. An algebraic manipulation of the interpolation equation allows computing the difference on the fraction coefficients instead of the tetrahedron node values. Not only will this technique preserve the full precision without over or underflow, but the packed data from the 3D lookup can be used directly, thereby allowing a faster implementation of the color space transformation overall and implementing as part of a direct-copy image path on a media processor. Such a system and method allows the implementation of the direct copy pipeline to function at the required performance rate as requested by a customer specification while obtaining the required product design speed.
