Abstract: An image forming device comprises an ink reservoir that contains a reservoir ink. The ink reservoir is arranged to provide the reservoir ink to an included print element by means of an included ink supply channel. A print element ink thus is supplied to the print element. When a fault condition is detected that indicates a likelihood of a freezing of the print element ink, the print element is de-primed by forcing the print element ink to evacuate, discharge, withdraw or flow from the print element by means of the ink supply channel. The fault condition comprises any of a loss of power, a power-down process or a print element temperature being less than or equal to a threshold value.

Abstract: A printing plate suitable for retaining ink in an imagewise fashion on a main surface thereof defines an array of pixel-sized cavities. Each cavity has associated therewith a quantity of a light-induced shape-memory polymer. When a cavity is exposed with energy, such as from an imaging laser, the quantity of polymer changes shape and/or position, thereby allowing a relatively greater quantity of ink to be retained in the cavity. The printing plate is then inked, to from a transferable image. The apparatus as a whole enables a gravure-like printing plate to be repeatedly imaged using digital image data.

Abstract: A method for controlling blade interference in a single blade or multi-blade xerographic cleaner based on a look-up table for environmental conditions and blade age. Temperature and humidity sensors and a blade age counter are used to provide information to a controller, which adjusts the blade interference through a stepper motor based on the preloaded table. This allows lower blade load in most conditions over life, compared to the known method of setting the initial load high enough to cover these stress factors at worse case levels. The look-up table is empirically determined for a give blade material and xerographic system, e.g., photoreceptor, toner, etc. It takes into account the variation in blade load itself as a function of the environment and blade age.
Abstract: The present invention provides a sheet with plural wireless measuring units, each of which, when a radio signal is sent, measures physical quantity surrounding itself by using the radio signal as an energy source, and generates and sends a radio signal having an attribute reflecting the measured physical quantity.
Abstract: An image rendering system includes a digital front end to electronically analyze image data to generate geometry dependent image content information. A print engine, operatively connected to the digital front end, renders the image data. A print engine controller, operatively connected to the digital front end and the print engine, controls various parameters of the print engine. The digital front end transmits the image content information to the print engine controller. The print engine controller adjusts a parameter of the print engine based on the transmitted image content information. The transmitted image content information may be coverage information, reload information, and/or toner pile height information. The parameter of the print engine adjusted based upon the transmitted image content information may be fuser temperature and/or process speed of a developer housing and/or flow rate of toner into a developer housing.

Abstract: This disclosure is generally directed to a batch process of producing semi-conductive polymer nanodispersions in which a composition comprising a liquid and a polymer is at least partially dissolved in the liquid, resulting in dissolved polymer molecules in the composition, wherein the dissolution occurs in a dissolution vessel. The solubility of the dissolved polymer molecules in the composition is then increased to increase the concentration of dissolved polymer in the composition to a range from about 0.1% to about 30% based on a total weight of the polymer and the liquid, wherein increasing the solubility of the dissolved polymer in the composition occurs in a dissolution vessel. The dissolved polymer in the composition is then diluted with a diluent, wherein the dissolution of the dissolved polymer in the composition occurs by addition of the composition to the diluent in a precipitation vessel.
Abstract: Sequentially performed are (1) an entire liquid crystal layer is initialized into a focal conic state, (2) an image is written onto the liquid crystal device by scanning with selecting exposure or non-exposure while applying a voltage that does not exceed a threshold value for a state change from the focal conic state to a homeotropic state during the non-exposure but exceeds the threshold value during the exposure and that causes the focal conic state and the homeotropic state to be bi-stable after the exposure, and (3) the application of the voltage is stopped to change a state of a portion, of which the state has changed to the homeotropic state, to the planer state. In (2), an electric field energy applied to an exposure portion of the liquid crystal layer is controlled to gradually increase from a start to an end of the series of scanning actions.

An apparatus useful for printing including a first member including a first outer surface; a second member including a second outer surface; a belt including an inner surface and an outer surface; a first nip formed by contact between the inner surface of the belt and the second outer surface and contact between the outer surface of the belt and the first outer surface; and a stripping mechanism including a stripping member disposed internal to the belt. The stripping member is positionable relative to the first nip to vary a pressure applied by the outer surface of the belt against the first outer surface downstream from the first nip. The media are stripped from the outer surface of the belt after exiting from the first nip.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for performing a CMYK to CMYKKpRGB color transform which helps reduce engine-specific halftone artifacts in diverse printing devices capable of dot-on-dot printing. The present method lends adaptive color overlapping control to local color regions depending on the engine behaviors and imaging artifacts to be addressed.
