Abstract: The recognition apparatus shoots pictures of at least a portion of a subject including a human face and obtains a sequence of image data. The facial portion is recognized from the image data. Each image data in the sequence of image data is processed successively. From the image data, an image region including the facial portion is identified. Either a color of the subject within a region defined based on the identified image region or the result of detection of moving regions is used for processing for identifying the image region including the facial portion.

In an embodiment, the conductive barrier is heat bonded between each film layer, forming a flexible, cuttable laminate.
Abstract: An imaging member is disclosed having a surface layer comprising a heat-sensitive material whose surface compatibility to printing agents, such as toners and inks, can be substantially reversed in response to small changes in temperature. The imaging member is suitable for use in lithographic and printing applications, permitting reversible switching between compatibility states of printing agents, such as between hydrophilic and hydrophobic states or oleophilic and oleophobic states, and enabling rapid production of images on a recording medium.

Abstract: In the illustrated embodiment of the invention a scanning system is provided for scanning a chargeable surface for latent image detection. The chargeable surface is charged to a first potential, and a scanner probe is charged to a second potential within a predetermined potential difference from the first potential. The scanner probe is oscillated at a selected frequency and reads or measures the oscillation current that is induced from the oscillation and detects any latent images or other electrostatic distributions on the chargeable surface. A processor processes the probe measurements for determining the potential of a latent image on the chargeable surface based on the scanner probe readings.
Abstract: The subject embodiments relate to software tools providing a simplified way for print customers to easily perform pre-press checks and editing digital assets for use in a variable information print job. The digital assets are uploaded to the appropriate storage location in a digital asset repository hosted by the print system and checked for compatibility with variable data fields. Suggested editing is also available.

Abstract: A media sheet deformer provides an adjustable amount of media sheet deformation. The media sheet deformer nonpermanently deforms a media sheet in a printer to increase the beam strength of the media sheet temporarily. The device includes a deformer, a support member, and a positioning member. The deformer is positioned in a media path within a printer. The deformer is configured to deform a media sheet temporarily with an amount of media sheet deformation. The amount of media sheet deformation causes the media sheet to exhibit an arched profile that increases the beam strength of the media sheet. The support member is coupled to the deformer. The support member is movably coupled to a printer frame. The positioning member is coupled to the support member. The positioning member is configured to assert a force on the support member and alter the amount of media sheet deformation.
Abstract: A liquid droplet ejection head includes: a nozzle plate that has a plurality of nozzles ejecting a liquid droplet; a flow path member that includes: pressure generating chambers that communicate with the nozzles; and liquid supply paths through which liquid is supplied to the pressure generating chambers; and a damper portion that is disposed in at least one part of a region, the region being on the nozzle plate, corresponding to the liquid supply paths, the damper portion reducing a fluctuation of an ejection amount of the liquid droplets to enable stable ejection.
Abstract: A method and system of making a book formed of a plurality of booklets having a plurality of sheets including receiving a paper value from an input device which corresponds to a sheet thickness. A maximum number of sheets per booklet based on the paper value is determined. The minimum number of sheets which will contain all pages of the book pages and the least number of booklets required responsive to the maximum number of sheets required are determined. The number of sheets in each booklet is determined and is stored. The sheets are distributed among the number of booklets. The creep for each sheet based on the paper value is determined. An image transfer device is controlled responsive to the determination of the creep.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus for converting a multiple gradation image into a binary or multivalue image by use of an area gradation method according to a screen cell is provided. The apparatus includes a receiving unit that receives an input pixel value of each pixel of the multiple gradation image and position information on the screen cell, an output unit that has a lookup table storing an output pixel value corresponding to the input pixel value in such a manner that an image is formed in which the output pixel value is increased or decreased with an increase in the input pixel value, and a screen line number is kept at a prescribed level with the increase in the input pixel value but a dot position is different, and that outputs the output pixel value at a pixel position on the screen cell corresponding to the position information by referring to the lookup table, according to the input pixel value and the position information received by the receiving unit.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes: a receiving unit for receiving an additional image data to be overlaid on an output image, a modification unit for modifying the additional image data received by the receiving unit so as to shorten the processing time of converting the additional image into a binary image compared with before it modified, a storage unit for storing the additional image data modified by the modification unit, a converting unit for converting the modified additional image data stored in the storage unit into a binary image data when instruction of overlaying the additional image on the output image has been done, and a drawing unit for drawing the binarized additional image data converted by the converting unit on the output image.
Abstract: An ink composition, such as a nonpolar liquid or phase change (solid) ink composition, that includes a non-polar carrier, and a nanoscale pigment particle composition. The nanoscale pigment particle composition includes a benzimidazolone pigment and a sterically bulky stabilizer compound, which is a substituted pyridine derivative, associated non-covalently with the benzimidazolone pigment. The presence of the associated stabilizer limits an extent of particle growth and aggregation, to afford nanoscale pigment particles.
Abstract: A ramp system may include a pallet configured to support a product, a ramp configured to secure the product to the pallet when the ramp is in a first position and to connect to the pallet when the ramp is in a second position and a bracket configured to be removeably connected to a top surface of the pallet.
Abstract: A system and method for document management are provided. The method relies on a logging system which automatically generates image logs for input documents for each job (print, copy, fax, scan, etc.) processed by the multifunction printing device(s) of an organization. The image logs are processed to identify keywords which are the basis of a search for similar documents among those which have been previously archived as well as documents in other accessible document repositories, including Web documents. The method identifies matching documents and optionally also revisions and related documents. A procedure is provided for ensuring that for each document processed by a multifunction device or other image output device of the organization, image data is archived (or identified as a public document without archiving). The method avoids duplication by using a digital matching document, where available, enabling the images of the image log for the input document to be discarded.

Abstract: What is provided are a novel system and method for generating a sensitivity matrix for adaptive color control in a color marking device. In one embodiment, a first and second color space is identified. A total of N intermediate components are identified. Component sensitivity matrices are calculated and a sensitivity matrix is generated using a chain rule of differentiation over each successive component sensitivity matrix. The present method facilitates calibration of dynamically varying color reproduction devices.

An exemplary embodiment of an apparatus useful for printing includes a continuous belt including an inner surface and an outer surface, a first roll including a first outer surface forming a nip with the outer surface of the belt, and a radiant energy source disposed internal to the belt. The radiant energy source is adapted to emit radiant energy onto the inner surface of the belt at the nip.
Abstract: A system and method for document image acquisition and retrieval which find application in litigation for responding to discovery requests are disclosed. The method includes automatically acquiring image data and associated records for documents being processed by a plurality of image output devices within an organization and archiving the image data and associated records as image logs for the processed documents. When a request for document production is received by the organization, the image logs (and/or information extracted therefrom) are automatically filtered through at least one classifier trained to return documents responsive to the document request, and documents corresponding to the filtered out image logs are output. One of the filters may be configured for filtering privileged from non-privileged documents.
