Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a first calculating section that calculates a non-contour degree for pixel of a processing target image data, a second calculating section that calculates a thin line degree for pixel of the processing target image data, a region extracting section that extracts a thin line or non-contour region based on the non-contour degree and the thin line degree and a color value extracting section. The color value extracting section extracts a color value within a range of a predetermined number of colors based on a color used in the thin line or non-contour region extracted by the region extracting section in the processing target image data.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting a region of interest in an image are disclosed. Image representations for a set of images that have been manually annotated with regions of interest are stored, along with positive and negative representations of each image which are similarly derived to the image representations except that they are based on features extracted from patches within the region of interest and outside it, respectively. For an original image for which a region of interest is desired, the stored information for K similar images is automatically retrieved and used to train a classifier. The trained classifier provides, for each patch of the original image, a probability of being in a region of interest, based extracted features of the patch (represented, for example, as a Fisher vector), which can be used to determine a region of interest in the original image.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a reusable and reimageable medium including a substrate coated with a photochromic polymer. The photochromic polymer has a glass transition temperature ranging from 30° C. to 150° C., such as from about 30° C. to about 100° C., and the coated substrate converts to a colored state when both UV light and temperatures ranging from 30° C. up to 100° C. are applied to the coated substrate. The present disclosure also provides a method for producing and using the reusable and reimageable medium.

Abstract: A method and system for generating a monotonic classifier are disclosed. A plurality of feature vectors may be mapped to a plurality of ordered classes. Each feature vector may map to a corresponding class. For each class other than the lowest-ordered class, a binary classifier may be trained to distinguish between the class and a directly preceding class in the order. The binary classifiers may be ordered based on the class corresponding to each classifier. The binary classifiers may be ordered in the form of a decision tree, which may be either balanced or unbalanced. A new feature vector pertaining to an individual may then be classified using the binary classifiers.

Abstract: The image processing apparatus is provided with: a geographic information holding unit that holds geographic information on an installation place where the image processing apparatus is installed; a form generation unit that generates an information registration form describing items for registering information on a disaster to be collected based on the geographic information held in the geographic information holding unit; and an output unit that outputs the information registration form generated by the form generation unit.
Abstract: An image formation apparatus which includes a rotating image-bearing body, a charging section, an exposure section, a developing section, a transfer section, and a residue toner-charging section. The charging section charges the image-bearing body. The exposure section forms an electrostatic latent image on the image-bearing body that has been charged. The developing section develops the electrostatic latent image and forms a toner image. The transfer section transfers the toner image to a transfer body. The residue toner-charging section is provided upstream of the charging section and downstream of the transfer section and, after the transfer, charges transfer residue toner to a normal polarity. The transfer residue toner that has been charged to the normal polarity by the residue toner-charging section is recycled at the developing section. The residue toner-charging section is provided with a nonwoven fabric, which features conductivity and touches against the image-bearing body.
Abstract: In a tonerless imaging process, an inked image layer jetted on an image receptor is simultaneously transferred and fused to a recording medium. A radiation-curable material is incorporated in the image layer such that irradiation of the image layer cures the radiation-curable material therein. An ink jet printing apparatus for performing the above process is also disclosed.

Abstract: A developer storage container includes a container body, an opening formed in the container body, an opening-and-closing cover, a cover holding frame that holds the cover so that the cover is movable between opening and closing positions, a protrusion portion, a blocking portion and a position regulating protrusion. When the opening-and-closing cover moves in the opening-and-closing direction toward the opening position and reaches a certain intermediate position, the blocking portion contacts with the protrusion portion.
Abstract: A system and method for serverless distributed monitoring anomaly detection for a service oriented architecture is provided. The method includes selecting a number of nodes, e.g. super peers, to form an overlay network which is configured to facilitate bidirectional information flow creating a peer-to-peer monitoring framework through replication chains. The method continues with mapping the overlay network to data by assigning each of the selected nodes to a data region related to its surroundings. The method continues with distributing the data regions among the nodes via the aforementioned replication chain, where each replication chain is sensitive to the type of application that requests data duplication in monitoring the data by collecting information from each of those nodes that correspond to an assigned or distributed data region. This method may also include taking corrective action if the node detects an anomaly.

Abstract: A position measurement system for measuring positional coordinates of a point under measurement includes a first noise removal unit, a parameter determination unit and a second noise removal unit. The first noise removal unit removes noise from the measured positional coordinates to acquire first positional coordinate values. The parameter determination unit determines a noise removal parameter on a basis of the first positional coordinate values. The second noise removal unit again removes noise from the first positional coordinate values with using the noise removal parameter, to acquire second positional coordinate values.
Abstract: Disclosed is an electrostatic discharge protection circuit capable of realizing speeding up of differential signals by reducing a capacitance of the circuit. Transmission lines are connected to an IN terminal and an IN Bar terminal and differential signals are input to the terminals. The ESD protection circuit is connected to the transmission lines and protects an internal circuit from a surge voltage applied to the IN terminal and the IN Bar terminal. A pair of transistors of the ESD protection circuit is formed in the same well. Thereby, when differential signals transit, charges in drains of the pair of transistors holding a state before a transition transfer in the same well. As a result, the capacitances in the drains of the pair of transistors are reduced with respect to the transition of differential signals so that the speeding up of differential signals can be realized.
