Abstract: A method is provided for embedding miniature security marks within documents and images, utilizing a mark parameters database, graphical user interface, and detection simulator. The method includes predicting detection error rates for each pixel location of a host image, defined as a digital representation of at least one recipient of the miniature security marks. The detection error rates for each pixel are displayed with the host image on a graphical user interface and the desired miniature security mark locations are selected. At least one set of miniature security mark parameters is identified, with the parameters being mark parameters that enable determination of an optimized balance between detectability and visibility of the miniature security marks. The host image with the miniature security mark is displayed on the graphical user interface for review and adjustment by an operator.
Abstract: A developer storage container includes a container body, an opening formed in the container body, an opening-and-closing cover, a cover holding frame that holds the cover so that the cover is movable between opening and closing positions, a protrusion portion, a blocking portion and a position regulating protrusion. When the opening-and-closing cover moves in the opening-and-closing direction toward the opening position and reaches a certain intermediate position, the blocking portion contacts with the protrusion portion.
Abstract: A variable price on-line printing system includes printing and finishing resources, and an on-line server to receive print job data and electronic requests for use of the printing/finishing resources from customer workstations. A dynamic price database includes data that describe current and anticipated future demand for the printing/finishing resources. An automated dynamic price offer generation process accesses the dynamic price database and derives a dynamic price for use of at least one of the printing/finishing resources based upon current and anticipated future demand as indicated in the dynamic price database. A user interface engine receives input from the automated dynamic price offer generation process and outputs price offers to the customer workstations, including the dynamic price associated with a printing/finishing resource, wherein the dynamic price is tailored to shape demand for the printing/finishing resource. The customer can accept or decline the dynamic price offer.
Abstract: A method of producing a custom packaging system for arbitrary objects. A first image of an object to be packaged is received via an electronic user interface. Information relating to the material properties of the object may be received as well via the interface. A three dimensional size for the object is determined. At least one package for the object is automatically selected. Based on the material properties, a packing material type is automatically determined. Based upon the size and the selected package, a packing material amount is determined. Further printing options are permitted.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image formation unit, a conveying unit and controller. The image formation unit includes a rotating photoreceptor, a latent image formation unit, a developing unit, a first transfer unit, and a second transfer unit. Regardless of forming or not forming on the photoreceptor a belt-shaped image which is not being transferred onto a recording medium, the controller controls the image forming unit such that formation of an image quality adjusting image that is not transferred to the recording medium starts from a predetermined position in a rotational direction of the photoreceptor, and such that the recorded image is formed further downstream in the rotational direction of the photoreceptor than an image quality adjusting image region.

Abstract: The presently disclosed embodiments are directed to charging devices which produce a negative corona. The present embodiments pertain to the use of a positive charging device, such as a scorotron, after the erase lamp and before negative charging station in the xerographic cyclic to mitigate the undesirable changes in charge transport layer electrical properties that result from exposure to corona while negatively charging the photoreceptor during latent image formation.

Abstract: An emulsion aggregation polyester toner including a polyester resin having modified end groups, wherein the polyester resin includes at least one carboxylic end group. A process of making the toner by oxidation of a polyester resin including reacting the polyester with a hypohalite and a phase transfer catalyst results in a polyester resin endcapped with at least one acidic group. Stable xerographic charging in all ambient environments for all colors, and excellent resistivity and cohesion of the toner, may be achieved.
Abstract: A storage part stores correspondence information on incorporation or change in processing sequence of processing elements. An acquiring part acquires a target processing element group. An extracting part extracts the correspondence information on the processing elements included in the target processing element group. An incorporation determining part determines a set of processing elements to be incorporated in the target processing element group on the basis of the information on the incorporation of the correspondence information. An updating part updates the processing elements included in the target processing element group and the correspondence information of the processing elements included in the target processing element group based on the set of processing elements.

Abstract: Streak compensation in a digital printer is provided utilizing a spatially varying Printer Model and Run Time updates to generate Spatially Varying Tone Reproduction Curves (STRCs) which are used as actuators to compensate for streaks during run time. A full width array sensor is used to measure streak profiles and the STRCs are used as actuators to compensate for streaks. Streak profile measurements taken at a limited number of area coverage levels combined with a Printer Streaks Basis Function Model are used to estimate and project the streak behavior at all area coverage levels and at all inboard-to-outboard spatial locations. The projection is then used in a pixel-wise error feedback control scheme to drive each profile to a desired shape, thereby compensating for streaks.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of using inks with gellants, that can form a gel state, as receivers for particle materials. The inks are liquid when jetted, but quickly enter a tacky/semi-solid/gel state when cooled below ink gel temperature on a substrate and prior to curing. Dry powders and solid particulate substances of various types are then applied to the jetted inks and locked in place when the ink is cured.

Abstract: A printing device comprises a print head, imaging member, and a moveable sensor array. The print head is configured to deliver marking material to the imaging member as it moves in a process direction. The linear sensor array comprises a plurality of photo sensors configured to scan the imaging member. The photo detectors of the linear sensor array define a sensor axis that is substantially perpendicular to the process direction. The linear sensor array is configured to move along the sensor axis between a first position where the sensor array scans one portion of the imaging member and a second position where the sensor array scans another portion of the imaging member. If a fault is detected during calibration of the sensor array, the moveable sensor array may be used to determine whether the source of the fault rests with the imaging member or the sensor array.
