Abstract: Methods and systems feed media sheets along a media path within an apparatus in a media path direction from a media source to a destination and align the media sheets as the media sheets travel along the media path using a media alignment unit. Abstract: A package of sheet media and method of loading the package are presented in which a stack of sheet media is wrapped in a multi-layer strap, the multi-layer strap is operative to allow a user to load the package of sheet media into a media supply tray of an associated print engine, the multi-layer strap includes a third layer disposed between a first layer and a second layer, and the third layer is operative to allow the user to remove the multi-layer strap from the stack of sheet media while the stack of sheet media is positioned within the media supply tray.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing use of customer documents in maintaining image quality or image quality consistency of printing devices are provided. The system may include a marking engine constructed to print images on an image bearing surface of the print device; one or more color measuring devices for measured toner images formed on the image bearing surface corresponding to the one or more relevant pages, and an image analyzer configured to generate reference images and to compare measured image data with the reference images. The image analyzer may also be configured to analyze input image data for a document and to identify one or more relevant pages of the document that may provide information regarding the state of the printing system to generated reference image data. Comparisons between the color separations of the reference image data and measured image data images may be realized for determining defects.

Abstract: A system for recycling waste phase change ink in a phase change ink imaging device includes a waste ink collector positioned within a phase change ink imaging device to collect waste phase change ink produced by a printhead in the phase change ink imaging device. The waste ink collector includes a heater for heating the waste phase change ink in the collector to at least a phase change ink melting temperature. A waste phase change ink conveyor is configured to convey melted waste phase change ink from the waste ink collector to an ink reservoir for the printhead.

Abstract: An ink umbilical interface facilitates removal of the umbilical from a printhead while better preserving the integrity of the interface seal. The ink umbilical interface includes an ink umbilical connector having a plurality of conduits terminating within the connector and a tapered nozzle extending from each conduit in the plurality of conduits, each conduit communicating with a liquid ink reservoir, a backplate of a printhead having a plurality of openings, each opening being positioned to receive one of the tapered nozzles extending from the ink umbilical connector, and at least one sealing member positioned between the backplate and the ink umbilical connector, the sealing member having at least one opening to align with one of the backplate openings and receive one of the tapered nozzles.
