Abstract: The invention provides a fixing device comprising a first rotary body having a thermosensitive magnetic metal layer, the thermosensitive magnetic metal layer including a thermosensitive magnetic metal material having a Curie point, a second rotary body contacting the first rotary body, and a magnetic field generating unit for generating a magnetic field, the unit being arranged to have a predetermined interval with respect to the inner circumferential face or the outer circumferential face of the first rotary body.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for segmenting image data into windows and rendering a best-estimate outline delineating document windows may include adjusting a background white threshold differently than adjusting a white threshold normally used to classify pixels as white for video processing purposes. Such an independently arrived at threshold may be more suitable for the different task of differentiating between document background and document content.
Abstract: An algorithm for finding regions of interest (ROI) in images and photos based on an information driven approach in which sub-blocks of an image are analyzed for information content or compressibility based on the discrete cosine transform. The sub-blocks of low compressibility are grouped into ROIs using a morphological technique. Unlike other algorithms that are geared for highly specific types of ROI (e.g. face detection), the method of the present invention is generally applicable to arbitrary images and photos. A center-weighted variation of the algorithm can produce better results for certain photo applications. The algorithm can be used with several other image applications, including Stained-Glass collages and Pan-and-Scan presentations.

Abstract: A method for compensating for color drift in a printer includes determining a first true tone response curve for a color channel when said printer is in a first state. A first estimated tone response curve for the color channel is also determined when said printer is in the first state. A second estimated tone response curve for the color channel is determined when the printer is in a second, color-drifted state relative to the first state. A second true tone response curve for the color channel is mathematically predicted using the first true tone response curve, the first estimated tone response curve, and the second estimated tone response curve. The first and second estimated tone response curves are estimated using a 2×2 printer model. A printing apparatus includes an image processing unit for implementing the color-drift correction process.
Abstract: A toner having an amorphous resin, a crystalline resin, and a colorant, wherein the crystalline resin has a melting temperature of at least 70° C. and a recrystallization point of at least 47° C. exhibits improved document offset properties and improved heat cohesion. Annealing the toner further improves the heat cohesion and morphology of the toner.

Abstract: Most documents that are in use today embed or link to animated content. Presently, a large percentage of online content is hypertext markup language (HTML) and many HTML documents embed animations. The aforesaid online content is amenable to printing. However, embedding animated content in a document will lead to information loss when the document is printed. Users cannot print the animations or the videos embedded in documents. Therefore, there is provided a method and system for automatically finding animated content embedded in documents such as web pages, slide presentations, word processing documents, and PDF documents, that are being displayed to a user, replacing the animated content by a printable version, such as a keyframe, and a unique code, and assigning each animation a URL, to allow the users to retrieve the animations via a website on computer displays or mobile devices as they read the printed document.
