Patent number: 7691551Abstract: A layer on the reverse side of an imaging member provides excellent crack resistance to the imaging layer(s) on the front side. The crack-deterring backing layer can be a laminated self-adhesive, such as tape, or a coating. Because the crack-deterring backing layer is on the reverse side, it does not affect the electrical properties of the imaging member. Overcoat layers may be used whose function is limited to improved scratch resistance.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2007Date of Patent: April 6, 2010Assignee: Xerox CorporationInventors: Mohamed Ismail Abu-Abed, Johann E. Publication number: 20100079770Abstract: As provided herein, there are supplied teachings to systems and methods for resizing a halftone image using halftone tile parameters. One approach entails receiving into a digital imaging system, a digital halftone image and a desired resizing factor for the digital halftone image. Subsequently the system will define cells within the digital halftone image and determine from those cells, a number of halftone tile seams to suitable for manipulation. The orientation of these halftone tile seams is dictated by the received desired resizing factor. The energy of the number of halftone tile seams is determined according to an energy metric so as to provide indication of at least one low energy determined halftone tile seam. A resizing of the halftone image is then performing by manipulating at least one low energy halftone tile seam in the halftone image. The resized halftone image may then be printed on a printer.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2008Publication date: April 1, 2010Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Edgar Bernal, Robert P. Publication number: 20100080469Abstract: System and method of generating feature descriptors for image identification. Input image is Gaussian-blurred at different scales. A difference of Gaussian space is obtained from differences of adjacent Gaussian-blurred images. Key points are identified in the difference-of-Gaussian space. For each key point, primary sampling points are defined with three dimensional relative positions from key point and reaching into planes of different scales. Secondary sampling points are identified for each primary sampling point. Secondary image gradients are obtained between an image at a primary sampling point and images at secondary sampling points corresponding to this primary sampling point. Secondary image gradients form components of primary image gradients at primary sampling points. Primary image gradients are concatenated to obtain a descriptor vector for input image.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 24, 2009Publication date: April 1, 2010Applicants: FUJI XEROX CO., LTD., FUJIFILM CorporationInventors: Qiong Liu, Hironori Yano
