Abstract: Systems and methods for automated vehicle guidance based on coded lighting to enable automated vehicle following and/or regrouping. Systems use projectors to project temporal identifiers for space partitioned by pixel projections. Different space partition is associated with a different identifier. By using simple light sensors mounted on the vehicles, and decoding the sensed light signal, the vehicle can determine its precise location in the space relative to the coded light projector. This information may be used for precise vehicle guidance to enable vehicle following and/or regrouping. For vehicle following, the coded light projector is placed on a moving vehicle. For vehicle regrouping, the coded light projector may be placed on a ground or on a pole. Depending on the guidance precision requirements, the coded light precision may be adjusted by using light projectors with different resolutions.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for providing enhanced level of security for devices and/or applications on the devices. The method includes receiving a request from a user for setting a secure code as PIN with pattern option for accessing a device, for example. Then, a touch based keypad having a series of dots is displayed, each dot is associated with a pre-defined number. The secure code as input by the user is received, wherein the secure code is a combination of PIN and pattern. Then, the secure code is stored in the form of numbers along with pattern for the user. Thereafter, a request for accessing the device is received. The user is prompted to input a secure code. The secure code input by the user is matched with the stored secure code. Based on the matching, the user is allowed to access the device.

Abstract: Methods, Apparatus, Devices and Systems herein load a firing distance into a distance counter of a printing device. The firing distance is the distance from the current position of a printhead of the printing device to a marking location on a substrate and the distance is calculated based on an angular encoder operatively associated with a roller used to transport a marking media to the printhead for marking. These devices and methods count the firing distance in angular distance increments as a function of the encoder angular position to correct for encoder roller runout using the distance counter, based on relative movement of the substrate and printhead. When the distance counter reaches the last discrete distance increment corrected for encoder roller runout of the firing distance, these devices and methods load the fractional remaining distance of the firing distance into a time counter of the printing device.
Abstract: A method of operating an inkjet printer that forms textual data with non-absorbing media ink on non-absorbing media forms the characters with structure that improves the integrity of the edges of the characters over previously known systems. The method includes modifying character pixels in image data used to generate firing signals for operating inkjets in a print head of an inkjet imaging device, generating firing signals for operating the inkjets from the modified character pixels, and operating the inkjets in the print head with the generated firing signals to eject drops of non-absorbing media ink onto non-absorbing media to form characters on the non-absorbing media. The character pixel modification reduces a number of character pixels in a connecting zone of a character that have a value that corresponds to a firing signal that activates an inkjet.

Abstract: A capping station is configured for storing printheads during printer inactivity to preserve the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles of the printheads. Each capping station has a receptacle, a planar member having a shaft that moves bidirectionally within an opening in a floor of the receptacle, a source of cleaning fluid, and a vacuum source. A controller is operatively connected to actuators to move the receptacle so a seal on an upper wall of the receptacle engages a printhead housing and to move the planar member within the receptacle. The controller also operates a pump to move cleaning fluid through the receptacle and to operate the vacuum source to pull ink from the nozzles of a printhead to the faceplate of the printhead. The planar member is moved proximate the faceplate so the ink forms a film that preserves the viscosity of the ink in the nozzles.

Abstract: A method for printing an object using a high power one-dimensional (1D) line laser imager for selective laser sintering of thermal plastics. The technique is a two-step process. First, a layer of fresh powder is deposited on top of an existing powder bed. Second, the powder is sintered with the line laser print head. The laser is modulated at the source or with a spatial light modulator. Multiple passes or imagers can be used for increased part width and productivity. Using the relative travel between energy receiving surface and the laser print head in the direction perpendicular to the laser imaging line, a 2D pattern is imaged. Multiple print head can be aligned and joined to form a wider laser print head.
