Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking large deployments of managed devices in a facility are disclosed. A tracking system is embedded into the managed devices, which may include, for example, printers, copiers, scanners, and multi-function devices (MFD). Location information is generated and maintained using an external server, and when a deployment location check event is triggered, a user of the device is prompted to confirm its deployment location and/or update its location information.
Abstract: An image forming system includes first and second apparatuses. The first image forming apparatus includes a first image forming unit and a first transfer unit. The first image forming unit forms an image of at least one color. The first transfer unit transfers the formed image to a recording medium. The second image forming apparatus includes a second image forming unit and a second transfer unit. The second image forming unit forms an image different in at least a part of colors from the first image forming apparatus. The second transfer unit transfers the formed image to the recording medium on which the image has been formed by the first image forming apparatus. A total resistance of the second transfer unit along a direction in which a transfer current flows is larger than that of the first transfer unit.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes an emotion information acquisition unit that acquires emotion information of a sentence information writer who writes sentence information, and a recommendation information notification unit that makes a notification of recommendation information based on the emotion information acquired by the emotion information acquisition unit.
Abstract: A communication support device includes a user characteristics information registration unit, a waiting information producing unit, and a notification control unit. The user characteristics information registration unit registers, for each of plural users, user characteristics information, which is information indicating characteristics of the user. The waiting information producing unit produces waiting information, which is information useful for a determination, by an operating user, who is using an image forming apparatus, as to whether or not to wait for an instructing user, who has issued a printing instruction to the image forming apparatus, to visit the image forming apparatus, based on the user characteristics information of the instructing user.

Abstract: A binding apparatus includes: a first pressing part that presses a recording material bundle; and a second pressing part that is pushed out toward the first pressing part and presses the recording material bundle. When a recording material or the recording material bundle enters a pressing area where the first pressing part and the second pressing part face each other, at least one of the first pressing part and the second pressing part retreats more downstream than the pressing area in a direction where the recording material or the recording material bundle enters the pressing area.
Abstract: A particle collecting device includes a vent pipe having a channel space through which air flows, a first air blower that delivers air including a particle at a first end of the vent pipe into the channel space, a collector that is disposed to block a channel in the channel space at an intermediate part of the vent pipe and that collects the particle included in the air delivered by the first air blower, and a second air blower that collects the air traveling through the collector at a second end of the vent pipe and that delivers the air outward from the channel space. The first and second air blowers operate such that a first pressure in a first channel space extending from the first air blower to the collector and a second pressure in a second channel space extending from the collector to the second air blower are maintained to have a relationship in which the second pressure<the first pressure?atmospheric pressure. The first and second channel spaces are included in the channel space of the vent pipe.
Abstract: An exemplary method of printing medications on digestible substrates is described. Single component nonmagnetic toners with active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) embedded or “dissolved” in the toner are used. The binders for the toner are digestible. The “printing” process includes loading the single component non-magnetic toners from a sump to a donor roll and developing them either directly onto the substrate or through the use of an intermediate member. Traditional xerographic charge and exposure can be used to make the tablet “imprints”. Dosage is controlled through “solid area” or halftone development (when charge and exposure are used). The “printed” first layer may undergo cold or warm pressure fusing. This medicament layer is then subjected to another station to “print” a second layer of medical “tablet”. Multiple stations may be used to build up a complete personalized tablet. Optionally, a final station prints protective overcoat materials to finalize the “tablet”.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes image forming units, a transfer unit that transfers a superposed toner image including toner images formed by the image forming units onto a sheet, a fixing unit that fixes the superposed toner image onto the sheet, and a controller that performs control such that a toner image is formed while the amount of toner used per unit area by the second image forming unit when forming a line image is smaller than that when forming a solid image. The image forming units include a first image forming unit that forms a toner image that is transferred onto the transfer unit relatively earlier than the other toner images and a second image forming unit that forms a toner image that is transferred onto the transfer unit relatively later than the other toner images, the first and second image forming units using the same color toner.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes plural first transfer units, a second transfer unit, a first transport unit, and a drive unit. The first transfer units transfer an image formed on plural image holding units to an intermediate transfer unit. The second transfer unit transfers the image, which is transferred to the intermediate transfer unit, to a recording medium. The first transport unit transports the recording medium to the second transfer unit. The drive unit drives the intermediate transfer unit with at least some of the plural first transfer units separated from the intermediate transfer unit and with the second transfer unit contacting the intermediate transfer unit when the recording medium, which has been subjected to a transport failure, is transported to a feeding position by the first transport unit.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to toner compositions containing a high loading of white colorant of greater than 30 weight % by weight of the toner and processes thereof. The toner exhibits a lightness (L*) of at least 75.

Abstract: A self-moving apparatus that provides a service by moving to a destination and includes a detection unit and a reporting unit. A reception unit receives a user instruction for causing the self-moving apparatus to move to a predetermined destination if the self-moving apparatus is in a predetermined state relating to maintenance or printing or if the self-moving apparatus is changed to be in the predetermined state. A detection unit detects a state of the self-moving apparatus. A moving unit that moves to the predetermined destination if the self-moving apparatus is in the predetermined state or if the self-moving apparatus is changed to be in the predetermined state on the basis of a detection result obtained by the detection unit.
Abstract: A self-advancing cleaner and a method of operating the self-advancing cleaner. In an embodiment, a rotatable member can engage a transport belt, wherein the rotatable member includes a cleaning surface comprising a surface sufficiently rough to collect and take away ink debris from the transport belt. During a cleaning operation the cleaning surface remains stationary while the transport belt moves in a sliding relative motion with respect to the cleaning surface, which allows the ink debris to be collected on the cleaning surface. Once an ink contamination level associated with the ink debris attains a threshold and a set friction exceeds the threshold, the self-advancing cleaner advances.

Abstract: An image forming system includes a first image forming apparatus, a second image forming apparatus, a determining unit, and a display unit. The first image forming apparatus includes a first image forming unit that forms an image with a first developer of a process color. The second image forming apparatus includes a second image forming unit that includes a second developer and that forms an image with the second developer. The second developer has characteristics different from characteristics of the first developer on a medium. The determining unit determines, on the basis of image formation conditions designated by a user, a printing order in which an image formed with the first developer and an image formed with a second developer are printed on one medium, and determines a sequence in which the image forming apparatuses perform image formation on the basis of the determined printing order. The display unit displays the sequence determined by the determining unit.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a receiver and a controller. The receiver receives an image. The controller controls a state in a real space based on information included in the received image. In a further modification of the invention, the controller may move a position of the information processing apparatus according to an arrangement of the information processing apparatus in the image.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a display, an instruction receiving unit, and a controller. The display displays a screen containing a fundamental icon and an associated icon. The fundamental icon is an icon for selecting execution of a certain function. The associated icon is associated with the fundamental icon. The instruction receiving unit receives an instruction to delete an icon displayed on the screen by the display. The controller exerts control in such a manner that, when the icon is the fundamental icon, the instruction receiving unit does not delete the fundamental icon.
