Abstract: In a system for processing full-color image data, such as within a digital color printer or copier, a four-channel architecture is used. Three of the channels handle image data relating to primary color planes, such as CMY. In the other channel, values relating to the K value which goes with the CMY values for each pixel alternate with a B value, suitable for pure monochrome rendering of the pixel in the image. When it is desired to print or display the image in monochrome, the B values are isolated from the K values.

Abstract: A rotational drive device includes a drive motor and a drive transmission mechanism that are coupled together via an input coupling. The input coupling includes a coupling body that is coupled and fixed to an output shaft of the drive motor. A vibration damper that projects outward and damps vibration from the drive motor is disposed at an outer peripheral portion of the coupling body.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and apparatus for the improved characterization of an image scanner or similar image input terminal so as to enable the device to be employed in the measurement and analysis of color images. The invention uses a family of input device characterization targets, each varying in primary colorants and at a fixed level of black (K) colorant. A corresponding family of input device characterizations is derived, one for each level of K, and the final transformation is prepared such that the characterization includes K as an additional input—thereby improving the characterization and accuracy of the input device.

Abstract: A leveling device assists in support of stackable objects having a non-uniform thickness, such as DocuCards, in a stackable tray. The stackable tray includes a pivoting tray that can be pivoted from a full sheet stack position to an empty sheet stack position. A valley removal mechanism is provided on the pivoting tray to variably support an intermediate portion of the bottom of the stack to compensate for and remove a valley created intermediate ends of the stack due to an aggregate effect of stack media of non-uniform thickness. The valley removal mechanism preferably includes a support surface that contacts a bottom of the stack, a ramp defining a ramp profile, and a ramp follower that guides the support surface to a variable orientation that compensates for the valley as the stack height changes.
